How to find out how much data is my WiFi IP camera consuming.

Hi All,

I have an MI 360 Camera and I want to know how much data is it consuming. This camera is currently set to record on its SD card and not a cloud location. So My assumption is that only when I viewing the feed or a recording on the SD card (in the camera) on my phone's app is when the camera is using the data. The camera is set to 1080p

Reason i need this info, my in-laws want to get a Jio Dongle with 3GB daily limit (due to a few reasons why broadband/local unlimited plans is not possible). They will not be using more than 1gb a day for any other usages perhaps even less. So, will 2-2.5GB be enough to sustain the camera's operation?.

I have the same camera in my house, can i use my Airtel (ZTE) router to understand these usage stats?

TIA!

I dont know the data consumtion as such but my cousion has been using MI Camera with SD Card 24x7 recording in his Shop for many years now. He also uses a Jio Dongle for initial setup and connectivity while watching remotely. He recharges for 2GB per month and have never run out of data.

Thanks for your reply! Just to confirm, his camera is connected to the Jio dongle 24x7 or does he connect his phone to the dongle but his camera is on a fixed broadband line?

Jio Dongle is required only for Initial Setup (basically any form of Internet). There on, you can switch off Jio Dongle and Camera will continue to record in local SD-Card. Jio only needs to be swicted on when you need remote access to camera for survelliance or to watch / download video.

He does not have fixed broadband line. Camera is connected to Jio dongle and phones uses SIM's data.
Jio Dongle remains ON 24x7 but you can switch it OFF as well and Camrea will continue to record in SD-Card. Just that you won't ve remote connectivity through Mi Home App

Got it, seems like while the camera is on and recording little to no data is consumed until the stream gets viewed on a client device. Thanks
