Never bought a printer before, and would like to get advice from experienced members as to where to get the best price, open to buying offline/online (Location - New Delhi). Need one which can be used at home for kids' projects and in a small office setting, the printer will be used for around 100 printouts per month. so far I've come across this one which I liked https://www.vishalperipherals.in/printers/canon-mf3010b

Check Brother lasers. The new ones have a low cost toner(Rs. 900 per toner, 2500 page yield).

I got the Brother B7500D last year. Just now the original toner which came with the printer is about to end.

Take a look at this brother DCP-B7500D Multi-function Monochrome Laser Printer (Black Page Cost: 0.34 Rs.) on Flipkart

I got this for about 15k. Prices have gone up significantly after 2021. Check Amazon, Flipkart and offline markets.

Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate it.

I've had several brother printers over the years, they are very cost effective ink/toner wise.

One thing to keep in mind with laser printers is that the non-led ones use a significant amount of power for the few seconds they need for printing a page.

Colour laser printers are not cost effective in any way, ink tank printers are far better value.

I am rarely in need of color printouts, that's why going for a laser printer, will ink tank still be more cost effective than a laser printer if i only need for b/w printouts?

Toners are far more cost effective than ink tank printers for black and white prints.

Most brother printers have toners that are not chipped, so you can get them refilled pretty cheaply.

Third party toners also work just as well as the original, the unchipped models usually have third party toners that cost under Rs 1000.

I did some cost calculations a couple of years ago: b/w laser prints were 5p each, colour laser was 30 rupees each and colour ink tank was 2 rupees each, not including paper cost — all three are brother printers with third party toner for both b/w laser and colour laser and original ink for ink tank. The colour prints were 25% coverage, the b/w laser was 5%.

I recieved M200 recently. Its a black n white, ink tank printer with ADF. Bottle costs 600 for 6000 page yield. It does not support IPP(will setup SANE for scanner) but I am using using it with cups so not a huge problem.

Print quality is generally better with lasers compared to the dye ink in the m200. With laser printers you also need to consider the cost of replacing the drum and brother has started locking down use of non-genuine drums/toners with a firmware update.

IMO, Ink tank printers are good enough if you can print 1 page every 15 days.
If you are set on laser, mfc 7535dw and 7545dw and 7541 are good options.
