I have set the relative humidity to 38. Whenever I open this even for a minute, it shoots upto 55 and slowly comes down avter about 5 minutes.
Is this a normal behaviour?

I don't see a problem. If it shoots up it means the humidity sensor is sensitive and fast acting

Which model humidifier do you have? post a link

Says the hygrometer used is high accuracy and then quotes a tolerance of +/-5%. That is not high. That is average. HYgrometer I use has an accuracy of +/-2%

Is there any way to adjust the hygrometer say if you want to calibrate it?

I do not have much knowledge about these. If it is a normal behaviour I will leave it. I will just look at some info about the hygrometer.

It's a way to test if the humidity it displays is accurate or not and if off then adjust.

Look at the instruction manual or post it here.

If you get one you can place it in there and use it as a comparison to see how much difference there is with value.

But this requires one that can be calibrated so you have a verified source otherwise no use. The cheap ones cannot be calibrated.

This is the manual found in the net attaching herewith

Mod note: Please quote properly
Yeah, there is no way to calibrate it. You have to go with what they give you. Trust it's calibrated out of the factory.

You can always add another hygrometer in there just to see what the variance is like.
