Getting back to shaving..

Had 10+ inch length beard with ponytail for long. Trimmed hair and had to shave with frequent pest from wife an parents and my boss. Also I had too many white hairs growing. Coloring beard is too tiring and wanted to have a changed look.

Now, the question is, I'm not too good with blades (silly me to say this @43) with cuts and bleeds in my chin and cheeks and bought Philips trimmer first (non-battery) and trimming at zero mm doesn't give complete look.

Was back to basics.. either barber every 3 days / 4 days or back to shaving cuts... How do you guys deal with it?

Was checking bombay shaving company products in amazon and related products.. Gillette another option Did sonnot know we have to use pre scrub, foam, shave and after shave.. this is festival everyday...

Don't use that Bombay Shaving razors man because if you don't know how to shave it will give you a clean deep cut into the chin.

Use normal razors from Gillete Guard or Supermax
Though these razors need 2 times to cleanly remove your hair these are good man.

I also once bought a Bombay Saving razors type thingy and got cut very deeply man.

Going to a barber shop also is risky these days because of corona and I only do a complete haircut and beard shaving when going for a haircut once. Okay.

Just use Gillette mach 5 or if on a budget mach 3 . I've tried all the blade combos from our old and trusted topaz blade to twin blades , finally feel the above mentioned blades are best for a quick and daily hassle free shave .

Gillette Mach 5 or 3s are very costly man. I used them once but because of budget constraints I started using Gillette Guard and Supermax blades nowadays.

Marriage changes everything man even lifestyle itself.

If you are just starting with blades, use the Gilette Mach3 or 5 or similar ones from letsshave to avoid cuts. Very hard to cut yourself with those but watch out for ingrown hair. I used those for a long time, but, since last 2.5years or so I switched back to safety razor. I use Feather brand razor and blades. The blades last for multiple shaves and are very sharp, so care is needed while using. Indian brand blades like Wilkinson and Supermax are not so sharp and less prone to cutting from my personal usage of last 2.5years. If you are planning to use safety razor, then shave with short strokes till you get used to them. If you are planning to use cartridge blades like mach3 or 5 then you need not worry too much. Lots of videos on YouTube on how to shave with safety razors.

Of late, I also switched from Foam to shaving cream and brush application.

It seems that you are giving classes on how to shave man.

Started a thread about this over a decade back :)

You're not doing any prep

might be time to bump it back to life

I use this since pandemic and very satisfied but lots of guys find not effective in their thickness and quantity.

Mine is full face and grow like thorn, not like hair.

downside only is running cost, else can shave anytime without any water or cream, no burn after shaving or any cuts, great product.

Require big mirror and light for clean shave. Need to drive opposite side of the hair follicle, it’s like yielding crops.

You're not doing any prep. Try to shave after a bath. Dry beard can be harder than steel wire and will damage the blade otherwise.

Just practice with short strokes.

The entrance fee into this game is low with a Gillette plastic razor and a 7'oclock blade

Personally, I like to use a safety razor, it costs nothing, you can buy a pack of regular blades for <₹20 and shaving cream which will easily last you a month or two.

At first you might get some nicks and bleeds especially if you are being careless or go against the direction of hair, but with experience, you'll learn how to handle the razor and you can achieve a clean shave without any bleeds.

I've realised that these "Gillette mach pro max ultra" products sound cool and are normally priced okay but their blade cost stacks up real quick. I'm never going back to these expensive subscription based razors.

Option 1 - > Safety Razors ( have cream and after shave)
Option 2 - > Disposable Razors - trying it currently
Option 3 - > Grow beard again...

hence this thread
