Forum Feedback Behavior of TE Members (Gyan Ahead, You have been warned!)

I hope people here take heed and not indulge this user by buying stuff from him. Complete lack of ethics, greed and just general lack of respect in honoring his word is very evident from his posts and words.

@nRiTeCh : I hope you find the model of car you are looking for from a better, legit source and can complete your diorama soon my friend.
Yeah.... Whichever way you see it , I don't really see a point to continue responding to each and everyone or explaining why I did what I did.

Nope. We don't need to go on any further on this topic nor do we need anymore explanations from you. I thing most of us here who have been reading this thread for the last few posts have more or less seen you for the scummy thing you did and wanted to pull off. I hope nobody falls prey to such greedy tactics here on TE.

I would like to share an interesting interaction I had from a WTB thread. Not as "big" as the lest few but certainly uniquely annoying.

Some time ago I came across a WTB thread asking for a particular fairly expensive component that is not too common, but not rare either. The buyer mentioned that they were looking for a giveaway ("out of the kindness of their heart") or for a reasonable price so I PM'd them with the details about the same. They replied asking me when they should book the shipping since I was there for the giveaway. I (incorrectly) assumed that they were being humourous and replied with a jibe of my own that I could not do that, and asked if they have a price in mind. That was the last I heard from them.

Am I to assume they lost interest in the item? Or were they actually looking for a free lunch, expecting people to give away quite an expensive part for free? If that was the case then why state that they were willing to pay a reasonable price for the item? I'd like to give them the benefit of doubt, but at the same time I cannot help but notice some kind of ploy at play.

It's a shame too, they actually have a lot of good feedback, much more than me, and I would have been able to put those funds towards a good use.

Seriously! This thread proves or is a testimony that we do have that 10% class of shameless worthless people around who instead of agreeing on their mistakes, apologizing and moving on prefers to keep ranting, argue and defend their mistakes and behaviours unnecessarily. It comes down oh wait it boils down to their ego isn't it?
In non transactions I would agree but if it's a seller then they haven't figured out how to build a relationship. Could be they they don't plan to stick around for long or not experienced enough. Newbies. If it's the latter then they are shooting themselves in the foot as it only takes a search to find out. This thread exists for just that purpose.
Hey pal, my diorama is already complete
When are you posting the photo?

Forum is getting toxic and I'll request mods to not censor me this time. Please let this stay up without any edits. This might as well be my last post here.

So, I have been getting hate off late. And I am not sure why exactly. I have never insulted, offended, provoked any of the members here but somehow I am at the receiving end. To hate is not why I am was here on this forum. I was here to be a part of the community. Some members here have serious problems with the fact that I have created many threads that according to them shouldn't be here. The lines have been crossed this afternoon. A member from "2008" who has a "mind-bending" 11 messages, and a grand total of "20" posts on this forum, has humiliated me like it's nothing. Note that I had never ever talked to this member before. No fights, no provocation, nothing. But somehow he felt entitled enough to insult like that out of nowhere. Of course multiple members found his post "funny" enough to react with "Ha ha" and "Likes". Thank you to all of you.

First, why did I create "many" "crap kiddish" threads?

Before I begin, thank you very much for comments like that. For enlightening me that my threads were just "childish crap". I created threads because the engagement has been progressively drying up on this forum. The online member count maxes out at 90-95 most days and people barely participate outside the classifieds. It's the same 5-10 guys posting every single day. I have been creating threads with hopes to create meaningful engagement; as a form of giving back to the community, to the creator of this platform @renegade even though he doesn't even know me.

Thank you for letting me know that I am an idiot to be thinking like that. Had I stuck just to the classifieds like 95% of the active members here, I'd never be subjected to this humiliation.

Second, what exactly happened?

Grown up adults, obviously much older than me in age, gave me a practical 101 on bullying. There are many politics based threads on this forum. The Israel thread keeps on giving and I am sure there are many many threads of that nature that nobody had any objections with. But somehow members jumped onto this "we don't want that here" bandwagon when I created a thread recently. A little before that, somebody had flexed his age to me without me doing him any harm. I was still fine with all that.

But very recently, I had the misfortune of giving explanations for a joke of all things with an "unaddressed" member taking it personally. It's absurd when somebody asks you for explanations for a completely harmless joke and the response is bound to be equally absurd. I posted cartoons in response because the question was absurd as hell .So it was and this is where this 2008 member comes into play as the "fourth person".

I was asked my age by this "unaddressed" "fourth person" for posting an absurd answer to an absurd question. But this didn't stop there.

When I created another thread today that could potentially be hilarious, he went on to post this:

I am sorry for doing that you know, for disturbing all the members here with my crap threads. Lesson learned and I will not create another thread here ever again.

All I will say is... ignore the ones who hate. You leaving the forum, not posting will let the haters win. Instead... hit that ignore button on the haters, march on and post when you want, what you want as long as the Mods don't think it's offensive/ uncouth. I for one would definitely give a +1 for the Sports Thread you created under the GT section.

Lets keep TE alive! Cheers :)

ignore the ones who hate
My experience with this forum has been overwhelmingly positive. I am aware that 80%+ of the members here, including you, are older than me. This kind of made me assume that this place would be devoid of trolls. Thus comes the shock. Age is definitely not a benchmark for mental maturity and people show their cheapness time and again.

I mean the same member didn't have any issues with participating thrice on my other "crap" thread:

Anyways.

Anyways.
Chill buddy, if you keep thinking about negative people you will attract negativity in your life so stick to positive ones. As others mentioned the ignore button is very helpful, With age you will learn the art of ignoring unwanted things/people in life where you ask a question to yourself if this person is important enough to get involved in XYZ conversation If the answer is No then press ignore button and move on.

I used to get this when I joined back in the day. I'd call out people that were talking outright crap because I knew better and they couldn't handle it.

And an equal number if not more have no issues. See how easy it is to cancel the negative Nancy's :)

It's called freedom of speech. Freedom to talk crap. True or false doesn't matter. They can abuse you for whatever and you just have to suck it up. You don't have a right to be liked by anyone. Can't control what people say but you are in complete control how you react.

I've been on boards with just 20 odd regulars and the discussion has been much better than places with thousands active. For one the thread does not advance ten pages since the last time you posted. Less is more here.

You need to feed threads you start otherwise they run out of steam. I find an impatience that everything should be resolved within a few days or people lose interest. I'm used to tracking topics over weeks and months. Nobody has the patience for that here I've found. Unless a topic is active over a long period.
But very recently, I had the misfortune of giving explanations for a joke of all things with an "unaddressed" member taking it personally. Stop saying sorry. Stop looking for permission. Stop asking for certificates of approval from anyone.

If you think it will be interesting then go ahead. You will find out yourself whether the topic has legs or not. Don't be averse to bumping old threads if you have something relevant to say.

And if you're wrong it's no big deal. This fear of being wrong stops people from saying things they could say.

These kinds of topics really show what kind of person you are. Much more than some safe tech topic. You have to be confident. Not easily scared off. That will come with time.

Only thing more revealing are the deal threads when you got real skin in the game.
