0-20k Rtx 5080 with 5600x at 1440p

Hi,
I may be getting an opportunity to get a 5080 and was wondering how bottlenecked I would be with a 5600x.
I play at 1440p 144 Hz, no e sports titles. Currently have an 3080 FE.

Also willing to upgrade to 5700x3d but if this also bottlenecks the 5080 then would rather stay with the current build.

Anyone who has a 5080 with a AM4 processor, can you please share your experience. Thanks

Resource usage is subjective hence bottleneck calculators may seem trash. GPU vs CPU usage changes drastically when you change game settings from Low to RT Ultra. If you want to play all games at RT ultra then even 5080 will be a bottleneck for 5600x most of the time at 4k.

That being said, you can take a look at hardware unboxed videos to understand from which processor onwards 5080 will no longer be a bottleneck at particular resolution.

Most online bottleneck calculators are trash.
Same goes for most FPS calculators since they don’t really reflect real-world performance. But bottleneck calculators can still give you a rough idea of what to expect. In OP’s case, the best approach would be to look up each game on YouTube using their hardware specs. That’ll give them a much better sense of how it’ll actually run.

Upgrade to 5700X3D, good choice under 20k. AM5 setup with R5 7600 will cost 40k while have same gaming performance. It will remove a lot of bottleneck over 5600X.

Sure 5700X3D will still have some bottleneck but mostly no bottleneck under 100fps.

I feel this will help, check 4K numbers - 4070Ti to 4080 is a decent 30% jump in general but R5 5600 is just not able to keep up thus ending up closer to 4070Ti than 4080:

One of the worst results but such situations will be more common in future.

This has made stuff clear. Either stay with 5600x + 3080 or at minimum 5700x3d with the 5080

Your options are either to get 5700X3D or upgrade to AM5 and get 7800X3D. Ryzen 5600x will not be able to keep up with RTX 5080 at 1440p and getting something like 7600 will cost you AM5 motherboard and RAM so it won't be value for money upgrade. At 4K resolution 5600x might be okay with 5080 but since you play at 1440p 144hz (so a 1440p monitor) there is only a little visual quality gain gaming at 4k.
Since you don't play esports title you can get a 7900X3D which is slightly cheaper. It's worse than 7800X3D for gaming but this mostly affects games affected more by X3D chips. Although the difference in cost is just 3.4k which makes me wonder if getting a 7900X3D is worth it for resell value purposes in the future when you do resell. People will hesitate buying a 7900X3D as 7800X3D is always preferred.

Also I wouldn't recommend staying with Ryzen 5600x because most games will have shutters or at least microstutters (the 0.1% lows).

Exactly, Even if average fps does not increase by much. The 1% and 0.1% average will be very good. Your games will play smoother and that's exactly what you want.

Invites aren’t needed anymore. The cards are openly listed on their website now for purchase.
Can you confirm which site you are talking about so me and others can know? I'm looking at a site right now that I think is the correct one but just want to confirm with others like you.

The website is having issues at the moment, though. It’s opening for some users and is down for others. I was able to access it yesterday after making my purchase, but it’s been down for me since this morning.
