Tired of my ISP and packet loss.

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone here can help me diagnose a really frustrating network issue I've been experiencing lately.

The Problem: While playing online games (any game, really), I get sudden moments where everything completely freezes for about 2 seconds. It feels like a total connection drop or 100% packet loss for that short duration, and then it recovers. This happens intermittently but frequently enough to be disruptive.

Troubleshooting Done: I ran PingPlotter to try and see what's happening during these moments. I traced to a reliable target (8.8.8.8 - Google DNS) and captured the attached screenshot during a period when these issues occur.

Could it be all the IPL streamers clogging my network? My ISP Goan Fibernet basically piggybacks its internet from another one called Ethernet Express which is stable when I tested it at my friend's house. However, Goan FiberNet is not working well over a huge area around me.

From what I can see, your connection starts showing frequent and increasing packet loss right around 8:00 PM, and it really peaks between 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM — which just happens to line up perfectly with IPL match timings. That strongly suggests Goan Fibernet is getting overwhelmed by streaming traffic in your area during those hours, especially since they piggyback off Ethernet Express.

One thing you can try is using a VPN with an exit node near your game server. If your connection improves while on VPN, that confirms the issue is with Goan Fibernet’s routing or congestion during peak time. The VPN reroutes your traffic through a different path and can help avoid the bottleneck.
