Dunno about poverty index or technicalities, but there has been an exponential rise in the number of beggars in my city. So much so that we have stopped visiting famous places in the city.
hope you don't give them any money unless they are physically disabled or old, most of those lazy ****s earn more than an average IT employee

One of the most successfully abused penal code of this decade which has zero consequences to the abuser even after proven false. India's justice system works in mysterious ways.
the law itself has merit and would have helped many abused women out but as usual, the implementation is half hearted. there are no guard rails to protect the innocent, no consequences for those who misuse it and even more sad is the fact that those for whom it was made, they still can't take advantage of it whole leeches make full use of it

Only after going through some court cases myself did I realize the extent of corruption in judiciary. Most judges end up with 100s of crores of met worth. The peshkars etc also end up with 100s of crores of black money.
I felt stupid spending my time studying etc when these people will earn 1000x than me in their lifetime for essentially making our lives hell.
Judiciary is a scam.

I've only had one court case experience because my family was naive to believe that it's functional, needless to say it opened our eyes to the rot in the system, never ever setting foot inside a courthouse again.
Let's also not forget about the lawyers/vultures enabling the system, especially the senior advocates who take people for a ride by dragging out cases unnecessarily when they're all probably colluding behind their clients' backs.

Exactly. People don't realize the level of collusion behind the scenes - your lawyer, opposite party's lawyer, many a times judge etc. - all are in pockets of each other.
And you are just another number for your lawyer - they will drag on the case for ages taking money for every hearing by filing rubbish.
The whole system is opaque and full of vultures. Add to it our police system and it's the perfect disaster.

Courts don't resolve cases. They make people's life hell and stretch things so long that you'll reach a resolution out of court.
You'll just end up spending ****ton of money to lawyers.

My father out of pride resigned from his post as a chemistry lecturer in a govt degree college in my home town and as he went back to join after a month he was told that his post was given to woman who joined as temporary lecturer and he filed in the State High court and the case got dragged for 10 years and finally he has to bribe the High court judge to get an order in his favour but again this got annulled by Division bench of the high court and he filed in Supreme Court where he finally has won and got his job back and joined the college again.
In the case of Charminar Bank dissolving and its properties to be sold and made to repay the depositors who lost their money the judge who got appointed suddenly became rich because of it and my fathers classmate is that judges son. This is how I came to know about him.
This is what happens in India or even in US as it's human nature and no amount of laws can prevent them from happening but we humans need to change our behaviour and without this happening no new law can bring about any change because we will always try to find ways to look for loopholes and utilise them because it's human nature. Thats all.

I once had to appear before a judge in a local court for a crime that I had committed.
My crime? I rode my two-wheeler with pillion. That was in 2021 lockdown when it was not allowed. And, it wasn't only the seat I was sharing with my pillion, but according to the Indian court, 2 people sitting on a bike somehow spread COVID.
Anyway, I confessed to the crime to the justice who was remote working through zoom. I was ordered to pay a fine of 500. I came outside to pay that. The cop, however, demanded 1300. I inquired why. He told me writer se leke upar judge tak sabka commission including hai.
I could have avoided all this trouble if I didn't let the cop confiscate my driving license in the first place.

I can't believe you didn't recognize this or haven't seen it before.
Really day after day when I think "Ab isse jyada kya hi bura ho jayega desh main", I got another depressing news.
- Few animals are raping left, right, centre
- Neta's filling their locker like uppar le ke jayenge
- Youth are not able to find naukri
- Gaali-Galotch, Unclean society, Roads
- Civic sense
I mean literally what are those things which I can proudly say about our country or myself as well.
