@Renegade @punswould need help with this deal as the device I received had some issues and me and shivam agreed that since he is visiting my city I gave him the laptop today so that he can have a look. But he seems to think that I dropped the laptop and did something with it but the damage which shivam mentioned is present on my unboxing video . But yeah before any conclusions or blaming him or myself is incorrect and so I am requesting help from fellow members
So this is my side of the story.
After receiving the package I made a complete unboxing video. I started the laptop as usual and it booted just fine . I check the usual stuff for dead pixels , wifi bluetooth sound and the specs and stuff and shut it down as I was busy.
Later that day I tried turning it on again and kaput. It wouldn't turn on at all.
The display went blank I mean totally blank and the caps lock light would blink 7 times . Here I checked with shivam about possible causes and he did suggest trying with a external monitor and to try and disconnect the battery and connect back again so as to reset the system but didn't work. We agreed to look for possible solutions online and one of them was a corrupted bios , I tried bios recovery using uab but that also didn't work . I tried removing one of the ram sticks because sometimes bad ram causes weird things still nothing .
So I informed shivan that I can send the laptop back to him since he mentioned about providing a 30 day testing period, shivam said he was coming to hyderabad and that he could take a look then So I gave it to him today. So upon inspection shivam's first reaction was that one corner had a dent and that I had caused it. This dent wasnt visible in the pics he added to this sale thread.
But when I checked the unboxing video which I took initially this dent was already on it.
Am not sure how I can share the entire unboxing video here so that someone can check it and verify.
Ofcourse I would ask shivam also to present his observations and then we can take it ahead
Just to add to the above , the charger provided was not genuine hp. And can someone tell me how I can upload a video and add a link here
He had already mentioned it was working fine and checked all the things. @ajeetone please throughly read, 7 time blinking. If you google its bios corruption not hardware fault. If dent is already in unboxing video and it went kaput within 1-2 day then there should be no discussion on return. Seller must accept as it was under testing period.
You can upload on YouTube and share link here.
And can someone tell me how I can upload a video and add a link here
Manohar already tried it seems & i did try but its not loading/ powering ON. The basic area with which we could at least recover may have also been corrupted.Ok what are the chances of Bios recovery? has anyone u tried that
This doesn't work with all the HP laptops.
Bro don't shock me early in the morning. For me also it's looking like a case of return to seller Otherwise testing warrenty means nothing. But I'm not technical expert nor setting rules here. If I recall correctly there was a similar case with @TechnologyHell where a gpu was working for 1-2 days then it got kaput and then seller have to take after intervention from @puns .
Thanks @TechnologyHell. 30days warranty doesn't mean you break it & ask for return.Okay so I just read the thread.
The laptop was working fine.
But the customer had shut it down in middle of a bios update, which I don't think is the sellers fault.
Even if you mess up bios update on a desktop motherboard, under official brand warranty, they would deny rma.
Or if it's a phone, you've rooted it, and it got bricked under warranty, company will deny service.
Just because the issue was created by the buyer's actions.
Coming to bios recovery, I don't think there is any proper way to fix this, hp bios recovery, sounds like nothing, cuz think yourself - the bios is dead, hardware is unable to communicate to each other, how would you recover the bios ?
One solution right now is to externally program the bios chip.
I've done this for a desktop mobo, and it worked like a charm.
You just need an external bios programmer kit, download bios file, flash it on the chip externally.
Here the challenge would be downloading the bios flash file for the laptop, cuz unlike desktop boards, laptop makers don't offer to manually download the bios file.
Its not assumption manohar. Ignoring the fact that while the bios was being updated you had shutdown.@TechnologyHell it's the asumption of the seller that there was a bios update going on and his assumption that I shut it down abruptly. I shut it down using the regular shut down button from start menu and their was no indication from the laptop that a bios update was being done.
@drxthe socket which I used has proper grounding , am using a similar laptop for my office it has a genuine hp charger I don't notice such an issue with that one. Only the charger provided by seller is behaving like this
Sir please search google, why will the bios get corrupted in normal use. It happens only when forcefully shutdown. What proof the buyer would have recorded.Firstly, Unless I'm misunderstanding something, the shutdown during BIOS flash thing is speculation by the seller. There is no indication or proof that it happened.
Secondly, on any recent system that supports BIOS updates via Windows updates, the process is more resilient than people think. Even if you somehow manage to screw it up, rollback and auto recovery mechanisms exist.
As i told you @manohar5321 its not a simple fix or something that i sent in this condition. It was properly working & you also said you connected to wifi & checked everything. You had also mentioned that Fans were running at full and also screen was black. When this happens bios update happens every laptop has a way to update bios and if you had shutdown incorrectly.@StygianClaw true, i havent heard a single instance that a windows update even if it was for bios could screw up the system like this, if it were such a critical update by windows it would surely intimate the user or would install it upon restart, i dont think people at microsoft were so stupid to break an update midway
I would suggest @ShivamRaj to check if it can be fixed in a day or 2, I would still take it if it works as expected but anything more than 2 days I would expect a refund. If a laptop is dead after a proper shut down it is clearly indicating other issues, especially because the charger isn't original and he is also not the first owner for this laptop, And I did ask for proof of the new HP battery which was installed which I didn't receive yet.
