Cheap way to stop outside noise from coming in through sliding windows and doors?

Really? Have you complained against that? This is not right. I use this 3M tape on all my sliding windows and the bottom of all the doors. It is not 100% sound proofing, however, it does reduce the SPL to an extent. Its not that expensive, try it out. Maybe it will make it slightly tolerable...

Android I have a old moto G 1st gen lying around, what to do with it?

You have tons of uses for an old Android device. Webcams, security cam, dedicated streaming device for Spotify, tidal, etc, car navigation device/bluetooth streamer. You could even use it as a wifi extender. MaSh

Front loading or top loading washing machine?

All good points and i might agree with most. I am just pointing out that for a regular daily wash, all one needs is a robust and simple washing machine that the maid or the lady of the house can abuse. The more toys in the machine, more chances of it needing a service. Regarding what i do...

Front loading or top loading washing machine?

Keep it simple and consider top load. Its easier on one's back too. Moreover top load are cheaper, easier to maintain and use. Most of these machines need a change every 7-8 years. Samsung, LG, Panasonic, etc make decent top loading machines which last the duration with little fuss. MaSh

Nothing wrong with the site at my end. Booked 3 tickets a couple of days ago. I was actually amazed at how smooth and fast the site has now become. MaSh

India makes USB Type-C charging mandatory for device makers from March 2025

In simple terms, the receiving device is like your regular tubelight or fan or airconditioner. It will consume only that much power that it is designed for, irrespective of the voltage carried by the power lines the house. MaSh

India makes USB Type-C charging mandatory for device makers from March 2025

I have two work laptops. A dell and a hp. Dell came with a barrel charger even though it has a usb c charging port. The hp on the other hand has a usb c port only for charging it. Usb C seems to be future for all devices. Moreover with mobiles now coming with high power adaptors, we could soon...

Build our own 5.1 Speaker system

Check out the Logitech speakers i mentioned in my post above. That's a one stop solution for everything you need within your budget. You could go for a receiver from marantz, denon, Yamaha etc along with passive speakers and a woofer, which would definitely breach your budget. MaSh

Build our own 5.1 Speaker system

Are you referring to Panasonic SC-HT550GW-K? If yes, grab them eyes closed. They are brilliant. I am using this speaker set along with an OPPO 103D. Oppo is connected to my TV via ARC. The Oppo does all the decoding and the 5.1 analog output goes to the Panasonic speakers. The output is way...

Build our own 5.1 Speaker system

It's the format decoder that makes a system a 5.1, 7.1, etc. You can get any speakers, however without a decoder for Dolby digital, dts, etc, it won't be a multi channel system. MaSh.
