Home Inverter Battery Holding High Voltage

Thanks. Its NOT a "Car battery". It is a home inverter battery. (Just to avoid any confusion).

Home Inverter Battery Holding High Voltage

Home inverter battery setup was connected to mains supply as normal, & there was no power cut at all over the last 10++ days. I randomly thought of checking the voltage on battery terminals, and surprisingly it turned out to be very high - 18.5 Volts. I took it multiple times to be sure, & using...

Home Inverter Consuming too much power

Did another experiment over 2 nights (10 PM to 10 AM). During these 12 hrs on BOTH nights, 2 ceiling fans, 2 mosquito repellents, 1 fridge, & 1 water purifier was ON. Only the 2 celing fans were on inverter connection, while other appliances were only on mains power supply. There were NO...

Home Inverter Consuming too much power

My experience with Wipro & Zebronics has been dismal (as stated here - https://techenclave.com/threads/home-inverter-consuming-too-much-power.225132/post-2584569) Better to try this one if rating is good.

Home Inverter Consuming too much power

Please do report your findings about power consumption. If that small battery (video) is 80w/hr, its like more than a ceiling fan running 24*7*365 non-stop. A big-big cost for the convenience of the inverter.

Home Inverter Consuming too much power

Question - This video claims that a normal running inverter keeps consuming power and delivers only one-third of what it consumes. Is it true?

Home Inverter Consuming too much power

Thanks @6pack. Tech specs suggest that PC does not draw more than 200 PSU (~180 W) - its Lenovo ThinkCenter m700 desktop. More importantly, the same desktop PC is running on the same inverter battery setup for the last 4 years (with same 4-yr old PC config), but the high consumption problem by...

Home Inverter Consuming too much power

Thanks @6pack. However, I've bought two such 16A smart plugs in the past - one of Zebronics & another of Wipro. First one burnt off on 2nd day when used on a geyser connection. Second stopped working on its own after 4 months. They're costly, so can't keep on buying new :-((

Home Inverter Consuming too much power

Thanks again @karanwk. These are useful insights. Allow me some time to check these and I'll update ASAP.

Home Inverter Consuming too much power

@karanwk - thanks for the response. Recently, have charged the battery fully. Then turned off main supply to observe how long it works with 2 fans, Desktop PC and 1 LED 18W tubelight. It ran fine for 2 hrs, which is when I turned on the power supply again. (it means it had capacity to continue...

Home Inverter Consuming too much power

Hello, Around 1 year back, My total electricity consumption per month was 4 to 4.5 units per day. Somehow, it increased to 6.5 to 7 units per day over the last 6 months without any new electric fitments or uses. So I got into trial & error checks by keeping 1 appliance off each day and...

Inverter Not Turning On, but supplying power

Do we have any inputs on the availability of these kind of chargers which can be purchased and operated to charge the batteries at the standard 240V home voltage? I mean, batteries are being used everywhere - bikes, cars, inverters/UPS. This problem of battery going dead (or being told so by...

Inverter Not Turning On, but supplying power

Thanks a lot everyone for the inputs over the last few days. I finally had the inverter-battery setup checked with a "borrowed" multimeter. It was showing 4V only. After having it charged by the battery person for more than 14 hours, it still did not bump up the voltage to the required 12+...

Inverter Not Turning On, but supplying power

Yesterday afternoon. So, How should I proceed here here? Should I keep it connected with inverter for few more hours/days? Or give it to the battery charging guy, or go for a replacement?

Inverter Not Turning On, but supplying power

Thanks again @blr_p for the inputs. 2 cells on the left were full, two in the middle were at 75%, while rest 2 at the right were at 50% water level. Unfortunately, I dont have a multimeter, but the battery person who visited last told that it was around 4 V.... (I couldnt see that reading so...
