Apple introduces over-ear AirPods Max for Rs 59,900

lol. now this is stating an opinion as a fact. there's a ton of arguments to be made there.
Nope. Not after wasting shit ton of money behind android devices it isn't. iPhones hold their value for the longest. They perform the best for what they do. They have the longest software support. App availability/ quality is better to significantly better (depending on the apps). Hence, no argument there. By the way, I hate iOS restrictiveness, will prefer android anyday.

These headphones restrict the performance based on your os.
Dude, have you seen the shit OnePlus pulled with it's TWS ? OnePlus Buds app can only be installed on OP6 and above ! :D

On other Androids, you can't even change the touch functions etc.

Apple at least has a wonderful ecosystem around it.

Samsung does the same with it's Samsung scalable codec on it's phones and TWS vs other androids.

Not defending any company here, but if anybody can pull off propriety tech, it's Apple. As someone else said, in most places it operates, Apple has reached the level of luxurious brands - most people ASPIRE to buy it, affordable or not.

Most of these products are not aimed at people who obsess over every little detail (again, Apple makes some really great products), but to the masses aspiring to own that piece of tech, and showing it off. It pays that most of Apple's stuff is pretty good, and just works within their ecosystem.

Other companies can only dream of having such brand value and retention.

Thanks for your informed and unbiased inputs. It is very hard to come by. I would love to hear more such thoughts on products from someone who has a complete understanding and does not belong to either 'camp'.

Have read about your journey on your other threads, so probably you don't have the time but have you thought about starting your own youtube channel?
Buddy, I don't have complete understanding about anything...let alone audio. But as a music lover, I have been fortunate enough to be in studios with some great engineers, musicians.
I'm really grateful that I still have enough money to buy very expensive audio gears even in these hard times. But I'm ashamed of it and given away most of the expensive cans ( people are loosing jobs, kids are dropping out of school, some are going hungry..and I'm buying headphones, amps costing thousands upon thousands... it just can not get worse than this...) but I have a very strong addictive personality and this is the last addiction I really want to quit...to be honest I had already booked for these headphones along with a iphone 12 Pro...the Apple store called me to pick those up few hours back...I will possibly collect them from the store ( if they refuse to refund) won't unpack them and gift it to someone in Africa after the holidays.
Hope you're kidding about the YouTube thing..I'm just an average Joe with a boring life, what will I upload? Who is interested in seeing malnourished kids getting vaccinated, ODs getting resuscitated or I'm puking my guts out after cleaning a maggot infected wound..
Sorry for going OT again...my only humble suggestion as an audio quality junkie....WAIT...it's possibly a very average sounding headphones ( the weight really scares me!!)
I shouldn't have entered this thread in the first place...bought them on pure impulse...a family of four can easily eat for few weeks with this wasted money...shame on me!!
Oh!! My brother in law Pppeter has a youtube channel...it's good, watch if possible...both me and my wife have played character roles in some of his videos!!

I wasnt kidding about the youtube channel. I meant a channel on your thoughts on gadgets and products. I think you are underestimating the importance of unbiased feedback on products. Nowadays that is really hard to come by and it makes all the difference - if customers want to spend money on the right products based on reviews

Will definitely check out the YT channel you mentioned :)

Apple isn't a luxury brand in most of the countries, far from it.

It is the case only in countries like India and other poorer countries which are still developing. In India anyway, most of the population has the firangi inferiority complex about everything so it is not surprising that they consider an expensive firang product to be 'luxury or aspirational'. (am talking about the non-tech rich people who don't understand anything apart from mrp)

Your point about Oneplus is completely true, which is why you would have seen them getting a lot of hate recently and I wont be surprised if they slip drastically in terms of market share in a year. Android customers would not want to put up with the shitty restrictive practices which OP is trying to pull in (hopefully).

Now coming to airprod Pros, they are very convenient, very well designed but the sound quality is really no better than XM4 except a touch less mid bass. The treble is completely artificial ( possibly a TW trade off), overall it's just another typical consumer grade garbage sounding product ( only garbage sounding, must be great for other uses...but the sound quality is PURE GARBAGE) Even a pair of Momentum TWS sound considerably better ( they are possibly more expensive also)
AirPods Pro sound quality is decent enough to the point that it can certainly beat many iem's under $100 barring few exceptions. So it isn't pure garbage per se. Yeah sound is tuned to please most consumers including audiophiles but considering how bad can cheap stuff sound should not be underestimated. In my opinion it is average sounding rather then garbage sounding. Look at any iem from Sony, Sennheiser under 2-3k, that is garbage.

What you said: that's an opinion.

Please don't conflate the two. Value for money is a subjective concept and any judgments on that merit are opinions and not incontrovertible facts.

I've used 1000XM4 extensively, and NC700 for a brief period.
If you think XM4 doesn't sound thick/ full, don't know what is!?
Even my modded Mad Dogs and Woo Audio tube amp combo has thinner sound ( I've never heard anything with this amount of layered good bass including the the Denon 2K and 5K)
XM4 sounds really really unrefined and outright bad, but the sound is definitely thick ( only the crazy Nuraphones can make thicker sound, but it's a crazy piece of tech)

Coming to YouTube reviewers...MKBHD praised headphones like M50X ( absolutely bottom of barrel sound quality) 1000 XM3/XM4 ( the most hyped rubbish sounding wireless headphone), yes he reviewed Sennheiser HD800S, but see the quality of that review!! He doesn't care about sound quality ( possibly not passionate about sound quality)
I've never seen Dave reviewing an headphone before...he took literally 2 minutes to describe the sound quality.
People need to understand one simple thing...no matter how hyped the 1000XM4s are, any half decent headphone will win the battle of sound quality with that POS!!
This Apple headphones need to be compared with similarly priced relatively tolerable wireless headphones..like Dali IO6, Grado open back wireless ( only the sound quality...to judge the DSP correction) or even the lowly PXC550, or the insane B&O H9i.
Comparing something with XM4 only checks the ANC capabalities, nothing more..even 100USD wireless cans sound lot cleaner!!
I'm not bashing Apple, but these stupid reviews!! You don't have to be an audiophile to review a headphone, but you must at least know certain basics of audio, must have listened to a large number of headphones and most importantly understand frequencies with your ears...these reviews are hopeless..but the problem is, most experienced audio reviewers have minimal interest in wireless audio and zero interest when it's made by Apple, which is very wrong thing to do.

Maybe the word I'm using to define the sound is wrong perhaps? It sounded cheap compared to my airpods. And no, this is not because I'm a fanboy, I really did check multiple times to believe what I'm hearing. I love great sound and can easily make out between cheap and good quality audio. But by no means I'll consider myself an audiophile since I've never even went close to even the budget hifi range.
I've always wanted a good pair of headphones/ earphones since maybe 12 years of age. I remember I got an a-Jays Two as a review unit when I was 13 (haha long story) and was beyond disappointed. I bought several IEMs (under 2k) and none of them were satisfactory and every thing needed to be heavily EQed to sound okay. Most expensive blunder was getting the XB75AP thinking it would be endgame for me lol. I was around 16 or 17 and I had to save for quite a while to buy them. Instantly regretted after getting it and somehow convinced my brother to take it.

Then started my KZ journey. Bought multiple HEAVILY hyped IEMs and while I grew accustomed to the sound signature with heavy EQ, I wasn't particularly impressed from the start. With each release got heavy hype and that's when I realised it's all bullshit. Last one I bought was the ZS7. While they were clearly really good for the price, they were certainly not upto the hype. After buying 5 (afaik) KZs, I finally decided I should step up. I started saving more for a real audiophile grade headphone (something like Massdrop HD6xx).

For some reason I decided to try out one highly rated cheap TWS called Tronsmart Spunky and boy I was super impressed with the convenience. Sound quality took a considerable hit compared to the ZS7, but the ease of use and comfort were next level. Immediately started looking for higher end TWS and that was exactly when Airpods pro launched. I'll agree I was a little biased towards the product and I could've bought the Sony or Senn based on internet reviews. However I'm more than happy I listened to myself. I know what I want.

First day when I tried them on (with OnePlus), I was immensely disappointed with the sound quality (which did not sound 10x better than the chinese TWS I had). I almost decided to return it. But the comfort , convenience, mic quality and transparency mode (this is a godsend feature) were holding me back from doing so. Next thing I tried was pairing them to an iPhone and made slight adjustments to Spotify EQ. It made ALL the difference in the world and FINALLY I had audio quality I always wanted. Full bodied, clear highs with NO sibilance at all.

And no, it may sound worse than audiophile stuff, but it is FAR from garbage.

See here, finally at least somebody to tell the truth. The airpod pros do sound better than sony which really is garbage.

And another surprise, he says Pros sound better than Max. I'll reserve my judgement till I hear it myself.

No, it's not. I clearly said for flagship phones iPhones are the best value for money. I did give reasons backing up my statement, which I will not repeat.

iphone is the best vfm : It is your opinion and not a fact.

I find it incredibly restrictive and complete garbage for even the same price. ios is utter garbage. It is of negative or zero value. This is my opinion.

None of these is a fact.

You are right vfm is objective value per currency. However, value is subjective and is dependent on opinion we discussed above. For me iphone value is negative or zero because of ios.

Iphone is not the best value for money, far from it. There are much better vfm phones in the sub 20k bucket which can be used at much lesser rupees/day with better usability.

Apps - In India, all apps are launched on Android first. Some of the banks apps/upi apps never even make it to ios. Lots of customization apps like tasker etc. are not there for ios. Google apps are much better for android. Which apps are better on ios phones?
Support - Iphones are made terribly slow by the updates as per the lawsuit which Apple has tried to settle by paying billions till now, so it is better to not get such updates from the company. Google and many other android companies provide multi year update support for android. You can choose the one you want.
Camera - iphones have started catching up with the pixel phones recently

Usage value is again objective (buying price-selling price)/number of days used. If you had proven that resale/usage value is the best for iphone it would have been a fact but you didnt prove that.

Your opinion on Indians is again just that. Your opinion. Doesnt make you 'less cheap' or 'more literate' if you label it as a fact.

I'm not arguing against anything else (even though I can). But seriously this? Man did Apple destroy your home or what? xD

I like how they term you Fanboi if you use any Apple product, you will be looked as dumb, non-techie and spoiled person. However if you use Android or Windows then you are really a techie, smart and ingenious kind of person.
Ignorance is bliss. Simple ignore a few ppl. I'm an user of ios/android/ windows/macos/Linux

Each have their own pros n cons. Airpods pro are excellent and My wife loves it, I use samsung buds with galaxy s20+ and I like it.

No need to demean anyone, rather let's enjoy the technology advances!! Peace [emoji111]

I don't need to prove something what's already been proven since last decade.

Those who haven't used an iPhone (or a Pixel in Android world, which is the only real competitor to iPhones with their comical QC), use 20k name-any-Chinese-company-phone-here which runs on miui or color os or oxygen or whatever, why bother pretending an expert in all fields?

Anyway, I'm out of here. Was curious to know how this headphone sounds for real and after watching 3 YouTube reviews (even though none of them are expert and will wait a review from an old timer) I'm done. My assumption was right. It's just an overpriced crappy product with the logo which is the main selling point, which we all neutral-minded consumers know for whom. Lmao.

Argue away fellas. Blimey!

Beware of false knowledge, it is more dangerous than ignorance.

Gadgets Audio equipment

How about now?
But I've given away most of my audio stuff ( a rough calculation : around 12000-15000 EUR...it's just obscene...) I'm so self centred that in the middle of the pandemic I was planning to buy the most expensive headphones ever made!!
