This isn't 2010 where smartphones are the new fad. Unless you are a senior citizen with Alzheimer's, jumping from iOS to Android will cause the least friction, since the OS basically behaves like a pocket PC. Can't say the same for users jumping from Android to iOS.
 
I moved from iPhone 12 to S23 last week. The experience has been good so far. As I was using mostly google apps (maps, mail, contacts, etc) I had no issues switching to android.

There are some initial hiccups.
1. The lack alert slider means I have to find another way of enabling silent mode like a shortcut on the lock screen.
2. Am left-handed. With all buttons moved to the right, I would often lower the volume instead of locking the screen. This will take time to get used to.
 
Just my experience. People who can afford the latest and the greatest like iPhone Pros, Sxx Ultras usually don't need them (performance and feature-wise), I switched from iPhone to Android sometime back and yeah any UI change will take some time to get used to but apart from that I didn't find any specific issue. My Snapdragon 8 gen 1 is currently used for calling, messaging, office work, and nothing more. I wouldn't recommend an absolute top-end android device, for 40-50% of the price you can get 90% of the performance. The camera is one thing that might/will bug you but then again for anything casual all midrange/almost flagships have ok-ish cameras and for anything serious I wouldn't use a phone camera anyway but that's just me. Save some money and get your kids/spouse/siblings/parents a gift or donate a small amount for a good cause.

BBK OS at least has much faster OS updates as a pro over MIUI. Else, I didn't see much difference but never compared them side by side.
 
It’s astonishing to see so many people going towards 1L+ phones and not opting for insurance. Costs me 7k per year for my iPhone 13 and would cost 2.5k for repair in case of damage. 7.5k for a replacement in case both front and back gets damaged.

7k insurance is fine. I remember that my friend paid 20-25k for 1 year insurance on my 11 pro max when he bought it for 1.2L. So generally insurance is an easy no as on Samsung side, as part prices aren't as ridiculous as Apple's. Heck Samsung has cheaper parts than even Xiaomi.

Your friend must have purchased Apple Care. I have the OneAssist Insurance. And Samsung parts for S23 Ultra are costly as well.

iPhone always has the best selection of really good cases too.

As a rule, I generally refuse to handle any such phone if it isn't in a case. I always tell the owner to hold in their hand and show me.

Slipping into a pool as in freshwater is no problem at all. Hasn't been for at least five years if you see the top-end phones from any company. Sea water is more tricky.

An already compromised screen means no more water protection.

Yupp I was using the phone naked and the phone fell into the pool after this drop. I guess your point of there not being any water protection is true then.

Honestly, avoid Moto. Poor software updates doesn't make it flagship worthy.

Pixel 7/7 Pro - Better if you want stock android. I personally don't like Pixels because of its barebones software, it lacks many small features which Samsung has. 7 Pro doesn't have that good battery life though, not so efficient SoC + QHD display sucks battery fast.

Hey this was quite an insight. Thanks a lot. I was thinking of Pixel for its software. But I recently caught up on how far Samsung has come in terms on software. Might finalise on the S23 Plus or Ultra. Like my phones big as I use it a lot of watching content

Go for s23 ultra if you want a big screen phone with bright screen for watching content.. Its kind off an all rounder.. You can source it for 95kish without watch and buds if you dont need them.. another option you can think off is the Mi 13 pro... i would pick miui over vivo/iqoo Funtouch os mostly... Else you can pick up a pixel 7 pro if you want to save and want to Try Android 14...Lastly you can think of Oneplus 11..I like it's ui over the Miui/Funtouch...Motorola Dont give a shit about their customer or the timely Updates and you dont know how long you will stick with Android 12...
