Canada says India second-biggest foreign threat to its democracy

damn, didnt see this thread before, I really gotta hang out more in General Lounge lol, but coming back to the topic, its just Trudeau fear mongering since even he knows he aint coming back, he has been pulling a lot of stunts like this just to distract the voters and keep his seat by painting India as the boogeyman,

Canada is in its Find out phase of the "**** Around and Find Out" when they took in Khalistanis en masse, they should have tightened up their immigration policies specially after the Air India disaster, the housing crisis has been worse than ever, low paying Jobs have mostly been taken up by immigrants, inflation is at a high point over there. This is just a smokescreen to divert National sentiment and absolve himself of any blame,

Honestly, just hang around in the Canadian subs or r/whitepeopletwitter whenever something about Canada is posted and you'll see what I am talking about. Canada is ****ed right now and there's no easy way to fix this aside from mass deportation of immigrants but thats a whole different can of worms

P.S. Do note when I say immigrants, I dont mean just Indians,
This 240 number won't remain that way. It will grow to a number where such things are less likely ;)
doubt that considering BJP's actions and the divided votebank here
And almost none of them sent to Siberia/Guantanamo Bay.
Not a good example, I agree with your points but bringing up Guantanamo Bay just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, thousands of innocent people were kidnapped after 9/11 and given third degree torture, you have no idea of the human rights violation that US did and is still doing there,
India is not going to become on par with US or even China even by the end of this century unless some miracle happens. Harsh fact but true. Share mkt booming & economy size in trillions matters not much when population is 1.4 Billion & per capita income is less than half of China.
China's economy is massively overstated, specially its real estate market which is in shambles, there are entire cities which are a ghost town in China
Yes, agree with you, as when people cast their vote for Rs.8500/- per month (free) and as soon as voting over, they stand in que to collect same. How we can on par with US/China with such Intelligent/Innocent/Poor People.
you cant blame them when that 8.5k will probably last them for the next couple of months for food, Honestly, its a privilege that we can discuss issues like India's economy, world issues and what not, for them its a matter of survival, they are happy as long as their stomachs are filled, they dont have the luxury to worry about shit in the future when they cant even guarantee their present.

Any security that failed at this level needs an urgent review.
Funny how we were talking about this not so long ago

Don't get better threat to democracy than this failed attempt..history literally at a fork here

Head tilt.jpg

It was a security fail. Only luck saved him.

One 20yr old defeated the secret service :sorry:

I did not got time to follow this whole thing but isn't it looking like a conspiracy like JFK case and possibly deepstate involved in it.

Trump coming to power means end of Russian-Ukraine war and most want to keep bleeding Russia as much as possible maybe even force Russia to use Nuke to completely isolate it for next 30 years breaking it into small countries.

if Trump comes into power. democracy is already dead and it won't be good for us if the word's biggest power becomes the a personal b**ch of a fat ****

No, it's just a cockup. One week later he would have been the Republican candidate and got more security.

I see, already the conspiracy mongers are at it. Why attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence.

Hopefully he does end the war. There is no chance of using a nuke since NATO won't test Russia. Obvious from day 1 when NATO wouldn't enforce a NFZ.

Having all manner of bogus cases filed against the defacto leader of the opposition isn't a threat to democracy?

Why no one accuses the Democrats of weaponising the legal system with the only purpose to prevent him from running for office.

Why democracy will die only if HE comes to power? yeah, that's the hole in the story.

There'd have been no Ukraine war or Hamas attack if he was in office. Net win for India.

The man is anti-jihad, anti commie and a nationalist. We'd get along just fine

there are no bogus cases filed against trump, literally none, since you love to quote news posts when it comes to other posts, why dont you look for Trump's this time? If you haven't found any, I'll post some this weekend or better yet, just scroll through r/whitepeopletwitter, and peeps there will have ample sources for everything they say.

Also, P.S. would love to hear your thoughts on the recent Supreme Court ruling in US which absolves past presidents of all crimes they did while they were presidents and the crimes are decided by the supreme court itself

Do articles count? There is a background that has to be explained here.

There is a pattern I've seen in India, Israel and the US where the left goes out of its way to prevent a challenger from taking office. Failed in India and Israel and will too with Trump. Because the more they go after him the stronger he becomes. At least this time.

Prevents retroactive prosecution. If they were immune in office then how can you prosecute them later for what they did in office.

Why did they need to rule on something that is obvious?

Crimes are defined in law which Congress makes. Supreme Court there rules on constitutional matters. Institutions in the west are more narrow in spectrum than ours are.

of course, anything that explains your point as long as they are not gossip tabloids and quote their sources.

so, a bunch of corrupt ****s will decide whats treason or whats not treason? And do remember these are the same ****ers who overturned literal decades old ruling to suit their whimsy, re: Roe V Wade (1973), they dont mind trampling on fundamental rights of their citizens, are you really sure thats who you want to decide treason for you?

Let's try this one for starters. It's short and sets the overall scene.

Sections to read
- The Weaponization of Justice
- The Attack on the Supreme Court

That's it

It's argument by a scholar on the right. Check his background.

Others which I can post from him are more detailed arguments which take into account recent developments. The trouble with this topic is it gets technical fast but the overall pattern is familiar. That is the main takeaway. Of course the Dems would argue no bogus cases.

We've seen it with Modi and Bibi.

The main source of information for youth which is reddit didn't have this news in r/worldnews for long, don't know whether it was there.
Yet, there are lot of seething hate and meme mocking Trump after this serious fiasco. Which is not just only about him but also about their country's reputation on global scene, political and systemic trustworthiness, etc.
They were earlier so much frothing mouth comments about Project 2025 or something garbage like that, but they do not wonder at all why such scenario gets created in their social environment. So much divisions between people being amplified in social media, between all kind of identities.
Always felt agnostic about politics, but to watch collective human progression so divided, so misinformed, seething inside out and going towards a nasty drain is eerily worrying.

And do remember these are the same ****ers who overturned literal decades old ruling to suit their whimsy, re: Roe V Wade (1973)
This is simply not true. IANAL, but the case against the original ruling was a solid one. There is plenty of good legal opinion (from all political sides) that favors overturning.

The problem with VDH is that he is unwilling to name the enemy. The cult that destroyed Rome is destroying America and Europe today (It is NOT the 'left'. There is no 'left').

Ironically the same thing was true for another "most popular leader of his country" who promised to make his country "great again" & he survived many attempts incl this one which basically was saving by a table's leg.

Having all manner of bogus cases filed against the defacto leader of the opposition isn't a threat to democracy?
Bogus? You mean the cases where he is not convicted are bogus while those where he is convicted are "conspiracy", that's convenient. Did he not get convicted in porn star hush money case & all the other cases still running where judgement is yet to come?

Why no one accuses the Democrats of weaponising the legal system with the only purpose to prevent him from running for office.
Do you even know how US legal system works? Their system itself is designed to be weaponised by both parties.

Why democracy will die only if HE comes to power? yeah, that's the hole in the story.
Again, did you forget that entire Republican party is now groveling at his feet & his words are nothing less of a supreme order there. That's not a good sign for anybody claiming to "save democracy".

There'd have been no Ukraine war or Hamas attack if he was in office. Net win for India.
Since when did "America First" become synonymous with "India Win" unless you are implying India become the B team of US in which case it makes sense.

The man is anti-jihad, anti commie and a nationalist. We'd get along just fine
A hardcore nationalist can never get along with anyone from other nations on policy principles, that's the definition of nationalism. Just because Trump "admires" Putin does not mean he admires every or even many Russians.
There is a pattern I've seen in India, Israel and the US where the left goes out of its way to prevent a challenger from taking office. Failed in India and Israel and will too with Trump. Because the more they go after him the stronger he becomes. At least this time.
Trump success will have more to do with democrats/Biden failure than his own, kind of like what happened here in 2014 election.

Crimes are defined in law which Congress makes. Supreme Court there rules on constitutional matters.
And legal system there is designed to be weaponised so Supreme Court there is never impartial unlike here.

We've seen it with Modi and Bibi.
What they do/did has nothing to do with Trump not to mention history takes decades to form a true picture & by that time all parties involved will be dead. Though one thing is for sure, if Trump did mess up the global climate treaties & he most likely will then history will take at most 20-30 years to show his foolishness in this matter. In any case, he will get at max four years of his "rulership" so at least that's a minor positive.

very easy to defeat OVER CONFIDENT
I'm going with incompetent

Watch the woman on the left having trouble holstering her weapon

Has she ever been under fire before because she appears to be frazzled. This is the USSS we're talking about. They're supposed to be pretty good at their job.

Who sends 5'3 agents to defend a 6'3 subject?

Over ten years ago I saw drone used to record my nieces wedding but US can't use drones to monitor their leaders.

Why are they not using surveillance drones?

Why was the shooter allowed a clear line of sight just over 100m from the president?

Inadequate communication between USSS & local police

Shooter was 20 yr old. For half his life he has being hearing the above crap about Trump. He believes it and one day decides to do something about it.

This kid is no fool. He gets an AR rifle, learns how to use it. Figures out the best place to shoot from. Not hard with Google maps. Arrives there on the day or hid there before without being noticed or challenged and gets eight shots off before he is taken out. It's a complete fluke he missed.

Otherwise this kid gets top marks for effort with minimum budget.

Looks like they were hiding under him. lol.

Likewise at this onset, democrat swamp may want DTrump to win as a fallguy for them, that he can be further tarnished as a failure for the economic sh!tstr0m they have kept suppressed.

This was the 4th attempt within the last 5 months. The previous three weren't made public..

There will be more..

Interesting take from Japan given the Abe assassination. They are more American than the Americans.

Everyone gets it

Not supporting anyone trying to kill another person but the kid deserves highest marks for utilizing republican ethos against a republican candidate.
Freely available assault rifle in open market, it can happen only in the US and other failed democracies.
:meh:

Tired of this civil war narrative had the bullet not missed I was glad to find an article that challenged it

Hordes of commentators were quick to analyze the significance of the moment in terms of what did not happen. Imagine if the shooter hadn’t missed!
Had Trump not survived the assassination attempt, they all argued, the country would obviously have been plunged into one form or another of civil war, a result of the inevitable violent response from the right.
Luckily, extremists on both sides would have to go at it some other time. …

This interpretation is exactly wrong. In fact, the meaningful, history-changing event is the one that happened.
If Trump had been killed, having failed to anoint a successor, the people who have been putting Jan. 6 protesters in prison by the hundreds for the past three years would have rolled right over what was left of Trump’s MAGA
movement, and Joe Biden—or whoever they chose to run at the top of the Democratic ticket—would have won the election by a minimum of 20 million votes.
