TECH NEWS : NEW DELHI: A ransomware attack has forced the temporary shutdown of payment systems across nearly 300 small Indian local banks, according to reports.

The ransomware attack affected C-Edge Technologies, a provider of banking technology systems to small banks.

  • RTGS + UPI affected
  • Money is deducted from the sender's account but does not get credited in the receiver's account
  • No financial losses have been reported
With all the over zealous security measures banks like to impose on customer (no rooted phones, no remote control apps installed like TeamViewer to access your OWN PCs, linking AADHAAR, etc), they forgot to secure their own systems.
