Opinion about Obage

I was looking at the 3500 rs version of obage and almost bought it. But then upon further research, i found that there are like 99% similar speakers but with different brand name. I felt that they are just another rebranders so I refrained from buying it.

I only heard a pair of tall Obage speakers at a friend's place. What I heard, was good value for the cost. Personally, if I was having low budget, I would look at them rather than some of the other crap which get passed as cheap speakers these days.
Alternatively if you are listening near field and don't need big bass, then the Creative Pebble series is also an option.

Oh, for the price they're good. I bought the ht-144 (which now comparing it to the one you linked looks very ugly) for 6400 around 10 months back. If you're comparing these to speaker setups that cost more than double or triple the price of course it will pale. But I really like it for the value it brings at this budget. Also they look like the same unit but with a facelift.

Considering I was about to buy an edifier r1700bt for my family living room for almost 16k last year, I wasn't really too sure if it was worth that price (plus it used to go only for like 11k prior to covid so screw that). Dad also put some sense into me that he just wanted a 2.1 speaker setup (like the old creative pc speaker types) and not something that costs over 15k for the TV which we only used in the morning and night. At that point I was fed up of deal hunting across various sellers for the edifiers and just bought the obage. For 6k if they last just half a year, it's not a big loss I thought.

Bass is surprisngly decent. Not surprising as most low end speakers crank their bass up but vocals do still sound clear and good. Instruments are good as well but don't expect some insane detail or seperation. Keep in mind tho the bass knob was fully cranked up as my dad wanted it. He was happy with it and still is.

Longetivity wise it still works as the day I bought it. Using an RCA audio cable to connect it as that sounded the cleanest. Ignore the rest of the modes, be it USB, BT or aux. I have not tried USB or aux but the BT literally is the worst. It's not yet a year but it will be a year soon enough. If it breaks anytime after that, I feel like I got my use out of it. I would just buy another one as it matches my needs for the price. Sure I looked into soundbars but I never really liked the idea of soundbars, we always had the idea that speakers are always 2.1 or more lol. Not big movie watchers, parents mostly put on news and regional songs from youtube.
