When do you use your Steam Deck/Handheld Console?

I got a Steam Deck a little over a year ago with immense excitement and used it quite a lot for the first few weeks. I got a USB-C hub (used it once) and the modcase as well. However, the excitement soon wore off and I went back to my PC and the Steam Deck was kept away in the cupboard. It came to my rescue when I had surgery 2 months ago and couldn't get up from the bed. I used it all the time and it felt like a godsend. Now that I can get up and use my PC, the Steam Deck is unused once again. So when is it that you guys use your handheld consoles?

My Miyoo Mini Plus also has had the same fate. I installed Onion OS and added the tiny best set go roms to it, only to use it a few times.

If you have the time to be able to sit in front of a PC for a 1-2 hour gaming session without interruption then you don't need them

I think Steam Deck/Ally/ Legion Go etc are suited more for married folks/ folks with kids... or people with long commutes and dont have to drive during their commute
Thanks to these handhelds, I have been able to get back to the hobby since they allow me to play even while sitting on the couch while wife watches the TV
Or late nights before sleeping

It all depends on how many options you have.
If someone has option like big screen and solid Console/pc. They won't care for these handhelds much.

But if you don't have much option you will end up with handheld.

For me Nintendo handheld is very much special because of Nintendo exclusive games.

Otherwise it too would be lying around.

It depends on your situation..
I have a big screen (85) with a Ps5 , a mid range PC (3070) with a decent monitor.
Yet the handheld (Legion) is what gets used the most.. often even for game streaming from the PS5 and PC

That makes sense. I think the games you primarily play also play a major part. I don't feel comfortable playing fast-paced games like Hades or Rocket League on my Steam Deck, which might require you to be a bit aggressive with the joysticks/buttons. Then again, that could just be me being afraid of breaking something and being unable to repair it. So far I've used the Deck for games like Steamworld Heist, Dave the Diver, Life is Strange, Guacamelee and Smackdown HCTP and have had a good time.

But unless I'm in a situation where I don't have access to my PC for some reason, I guess I don't have much use for it.

I use mine during the commute to work. Traffic isn't as much of a bother cause of it.
I really like the steam deck but end up using my Nintendo Switch a lot more cause the games are just easier to pick up and play for a short bit.

I own a PS5 and Switch Lite, also used to own a Xbox last month but sold it because I couldn't give time to both PS5 and Xbox at the same time but no regrets what so ever thanks to Gamepass that kept me sane.
I went with Switch Lite only because ill find good indie games to pick up and put down and I am more likely to complete these if I can be away from my desk. I haven't completed Brothers, Trine 2, Inside still lying on my old laptop which I bought on sale.

The switch exclusives are really good too. Lots of options to just pick up and play for short bursts (such as Mario +rabbids. Fire emblem, donkey kong, etc)
