Mine has stopped getting updates for last 4 years. If yours is recent, the mapping is changed few years ago. A click will put it to sleep, long press will prompt to shutdown and hard long press will force shutdown. If yours too is old, you can enable tap to sleep from energy saver settings or you can try pmset.

Power management features are different for desktops and laptops, I guess. Despite Sleep On Power Button being enabled, it doesn't work. That's probably a carry-over from when I migrated my settings/data from my Macbook Pro to this M1 mini.

To those who have a M4 now, how does it hold up under load? @superczar @y2s @ibose and anyone else I might have missed, my M1 regularly sees 100C under load and it's sitting in the normal position, even elevated off the desk:

Seems high for a M1 - checked the vents?

On this one, I Havent mucked around much yet but What does a heavy load mean for you?
Games like RE: Village and CP2077 had it hovering around 70 while idle is around 40-45

In contrast, my MBA M1 does around 35C idle and 75-80 under load

The vents are cleaned regularly, I probably just have a high ambient. It's 33C inside at the moment and the M1 is at 51C doing nothing in particular (no AC in this room).

My Mini is intel mini and I used to reset SMC. Never had to bother about this after moving to M2 MacBook. Play around with pmset and also see if there is a way to reset power profiles to get the default behavior to work.

Coming to snapping and snipping and restoring, try Moom and BetterTouchTool. RectanglesPro works to an extent. I am using rectangles pro as I am using MBP but it does not have option to bring the arrangement back on reboot. Moom will remember the layout and bring ti back. Not ready to pay for Moom as I already paid for rectnagles and for me, it barely takes a minute to set the arrangement back on reboot (single 32" display).

Nice monitor setup. Never seen power brick connected like that.

Thanks. I'll need to try out a few of those, I've been using Magnet for a few years because it has keyboard shortcuts. I usually have multiple windows of the same app which is one of the reasons why they would never reopen where I left them. Atom, terminal and a few Wine wrappers.

They're called C5 plug adapters, I got them from those forwarders/importers on Amazon that take weeks to deliver. They were about 400 to 700 each. But the power strip I'm using is a C13 power strip by MX, it resembles a PDU: https://www.amazon.in/MX-Outlet-Socket-Master-Switch/dp/B09SFT59XZ

The fit of the connectors on these are far more secure than regular 3 pin plugs and sockets and I needed something I wouldn't ever have to look at (and I haven't, after wiring them up). The table is actually a door and it's on a stand that I had made to be at standing height with castors, so the entire setup moves around for easy cleaning.
