Adani group, an Evil corp?

Gautam and Sagar Adani are accused of persuading investors to buy their company’s bonds by misrepresenting “ that Adani Green had a robust anti-bribery compliance program but also that the company’s senior management had not and would not pay or promise to pay bribes.”
His compliance program is probably scrawled in crayon, with "No Bribes, Promise :) " underlined three times, and Modi's signature at the bottom like a gold star from daddy. Real professional. What is this, Paul Allen’s business card?

These are power games. If you are still thinking in terms of 'rules' and 'right and wrong', consider yourself on the losing side.

4th Rule from 'Rules for radicals': "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules."

Adani is just a pawn. This real target is India's larger political ambitions. They want to stay in the kids pool.

He only has to pay bribes because there is an opposition government in those states. If Modiji worked harder in elections Adani would not have to go through this.

I am with you on that in the big picture. I have no expectation of morality from amoral corporations and nation states either. But if a corporation must lead India's political ambition, it should at least be a financially well managed one - instead of one seeking mindless up leveraging, held back only by the likes of short seller and the US DOJ. And India has a few well managed ones who could easily be "chosen" by India's deep state, instead of a "lala" firm, as they call it. No caste disrespect intended to anyone.

Yeah the problem is they are getting caught, not just Adani but the R&AW failures in recent times. To play the same game as the big players, you have to get to their level first. Our intelligence agencies tried to do it all Bollywood style without the expertise. And Adani now got caught with an excel sheet of bribes, it's just laughable incompetence. Indian agencies will 100% try to catch American companies this way if they could, like they raided BBC for tax evasion. But they don't make such amateur mistakes.

US doesn't have a problem with his deals. Remember how they helped Adani with the Haifa deal. Over a year back I posted here about the behind scenes dancing going on to ensure Adani got that deal.

This is just another bunch of accusations where USG had its arm twisted by interested parties to go after Adani.

Meaning some has done all legwork and presented and obliging USG to get this bogus charge filed

And as usual people are ready to condemn :bored:

No evidence needed. Whisper campaign is enough.

This is very much a USG thing. Or at least, a faction of it. The USG is anything but a coherent entity with different schools of thought often competing for influence.

The Adani case just can't be seen in isolation, especially as it comes just after Canada went to the extent of naming Modi in the Nijjar case.

Similarly, beyond India, it's telling that the US authorized Ukraine to use missiles it provided on targets within the Russian border.

Seen in the context of Trump's impending inauguration, it's clear which faction of the current USG is going all in on a 'poisoned chalice' strategy. The next two months will be interesting.

Fair, so Adani will have to beat these charges before the more sympathetic factions can lead.

I doubt it was treasury officials on the us taxes that put this case together. I'm saying some one else already did the legwork and then made usg file a case as the law states

Poisoned chalice is an interesting metaphor. But there ways around most things
