Hello all,

While I was playing Witcher 3 on AMD RX6600XT using Adrenaline 24.1.1 Driver its crashing to the desktop quite often with a message to report the crash to AMD Website. Please somebody help me in this regard.
I am playing using DirectX 11 version while using DirectX 12 version of Witcher 3 it crashes even frequently than 11. What could be the reason.

Ever since the last year "NExt Gen Update", people have been reporting a lot of crashes.
unfortunately i have not played the latest version, as such cant help you out.
But try verifying the game files thru steam once and see if it fixes the issue.

It's the Adrenalin 24.1.1 driver. It has been very problematic for many users (Especially those with 6000 series or older). Use DDU and rollback to a 23.x driver.

I'm sure if we say blame those not so perfect amd drivers, amd fanboys will still defend ignoring the flaws!
I may be wrong, but I will have to agree based on my own experience.
I had a 5700XT, and it would randomly crash in W3 (and a bunch of other games) with random driver timeouts, green screens etc. The card was fine, but the drivers sucked ass. Total PoS.

I haven't had a single crash in any of those games with Nvidia.

Yes, just installed the game and no crash while playing it. Try using older set of GPU drivers from AMD.
Playing it on a 3090Ti with GeForce 551.23.

Witcher 3 was crashing even in DX11 after playing for 5 mins. Now after disabling MPO Multiplace overlay its not crashing in DX11. Need to check with DX12 now. Using Adrenaline 22.10.02 driver.

My Witcher 3 playtime is not logged in Steam as well as Achievements.
I am right now reinstalling Witcher 3. Now while playing it gets stuck and restarts the windows.
Should I use latest AMD drivers then?

Windows restart seems like a hardware issue, or driver is this messed up ? I have never had a windows crash with nvidia other than due to uv/oc.

Have a look at cpu / gpu temps.
Are you using stock gpu and not oc/uv ? Maybe try to set power limits.
It might be possible that gpu may have degraded and stock clock/vram clock is not working with default gpu voltage( just wild guess, has never happened to me.)

Did you use DDU to uninstall driver ? Maybe google to see which driver version is stable with latest version of the game.

With nvidia i did have ctds with next gen due to know issue with vram usage when using RT. Had to use mods to manage it.

What changed vs Feb 12, 2024 ?

Installed 23.11.1 Adrenalin drivers which are the most stable for 6000 series GPUs after uninstalling the previous ones using DDU and also updated the bios to the latest version which is 24.2.2024 version for my motherboard. Also reinstalled Witcher 3 in steam and now its logging in the hours properly.
Need to see if Witcher 3 will still crash or not.
Will report tomorrow.
