Adani group, an Evil corp?

Gautam and Sagar Adani are accused of persuading investors to buy their company’s bonds by misrepresenting “ that Adani Green had a robust anti-bribery compliance program but also that the company’s senior management had not and would not pay or promise to pay bribes.”
His compliance program is probably scrawled in crayon, with "No Bribes, Promise :) " underlined three times, and Modi's signature at the bottom like a gold star from daddy. Real professional. What is this, Paul Allen’s business card?

These are power games. If you are still thinking in terms of 'rules' and 'right and wrong', consider yourself on the losing side.

4th Rule from 'Rules for radicals': "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules."

Adani is just a pawn. This real target is India's larger political ambitions. They want to stay in the kids pool.

He only has to pay bribes because there is an opposition government in those states. If Modiji worked harder in elections Adani would not have to go through this.

I am with you on that in the big picture. I have no expectation of morality from amoral corporations and nation states either. But if a corporation must lead India's political ambition, it should at least be a financially well managed one - instead of one seeking mindless up leveraging, held back only by the likes of short seller and the US DOJ. And India has a few well managed ones who could easily be "chosen" by India's deep state, instead of a "lala" firm, as they call it. No caste disrespect intended to anyone.

Yeah the problem is they are getting caught, not just Adani but the R&AW failures in recent times. To play the same game as the big players, you have to get to their level first. Our intelligence agencies tried to do it all Bollywood style without the expertise. And Adani now got caught with an excel sheet of bribes, it's just laughable incompetence. Indian agencies will 100% try to catch American companies this way if they could, like they raided BBC for tax evasion. But they don't make such amateur mistakes.

US doesn't have a problem with his deals. Remember how they helped Adani with the Haifa deal. Over a year back I posted here about the behind scenes dancing going on to ensure Adani got that deal.

This is just another bunch of accusations where USG had its arm twisted by interested parties to go after Adani.

Meaning some has done all legwork and presented and obliging USG to get this bogus charge filed

And as usual people are ready to condemn :bored:

No evidence needed. Whisper campaign is enough.

This is very much a USG thing. Or at least, a faction of it. The USG is anything but a coherent entity with different schools of thought often competing for influence.

The Adani case just can't be seen in isolation, especially as it comes just after Canada went to the extent of naming Modi in the Nijjar case.

Similarly, beyond India, it's telling that the US authorized Ukraine to use missiles it provided on targets within the Russian border.

Seen in the context of Trump's impending inauguration, it's clear which faction of the current USG is going all in on a 'poisoned chalice' strategy. The next two months will be interesting.

Fair, so Adani will have to beat these charges before the more sympathetic factions can lead.

I doubt it was treasury officials on the us taxes that put this case together. I'm saying some one else already did the legwork and then made usg file a case as the law states

Poisoned chalice is an interesting metaphor. But there ways around most things

Just to be clear, I have personally boycotted Adani products in all categories available.
I am making sure none of these Scumbag-related company products are at home, including Fortune products.
Buying products from such companies is what we believe supporting such guys and approving of what they are doing is right.

Adani Group CFO Jugeshinder Robbie Singh on November 23 admitted that the company was aware that something was afoot, however, it came to know of the specificity related to one contract of Adani Green only two days ago.:tearsofjoy:

Yet to read in-depth into the issue but looks like the investigation was a couple of years in the making, by the SEC. All the more reason why the timing is suspect.

There's always an off-ramp. Trump might and probably will use this to drive a hard bargain on trade issues. But it's a 'poisoned chalice' in much the same way Oct 7 and Israel's retaliation put in cold storage MbS's plans for Saudi-Israel ties.

We should thank the heavens Kamala didn't win. She belongs to the less-pragmatic/more ideological faction of the USG and would've gone to town with this issue.

seems a case filed to do some kind of damage, not get a conviction anytime soon. there doesnt seem to be any point in filing it 2 months prior a likely departure from the DOJ. it clearly doesnt appear to be a case that was 'constructed' over a few weeks but probably over a longer period of time & again apparently primed as usual before the beginning of the parliamentary session here. all their useful idiots here had started their co-ordinated howling from the wee till the market trade opening hours which had the intended effect. perhaps the hope is to attempt scuttling the passage of important bills such as the oncoming waqf amendment bill to be tabled. or to 'punish & prevent' adani for/from shutting-off the power & preventing the BeeDi 'chief advisor-e-puppet' from operating his electric toilet (though India continues to pump power to them from govt power-producers but that is also slowly tapering out due to non-payment of bills). or perhaps it is more of an angry parting shot from people in the DOJ (to adani who congratulated trump perhaps too soon & offered to create 15k jobs in america?), even if powerless to influence anything now. or/and its the DS trying to make sure that India keeps it's nose out of the UKR peace-process & let the war go on as well as also not strangle the BeeDis too much. all-in-all its a deeper amreeki game being played out on a much broader front now & the reasons for the attempted arm-twisting will become clearer as the days go by.

also, on the extradition nonsense....does the below seem connected? (see it in the light of how america has always repeatedly refused requests for extradition of david headley to India). the incoming AG pam bondi & the trump-team need to be approached about this matter. no Indian govt is going to entertain the plea:
Having lost his legal battle in all the lower courts, Mumbai attack accused Tahawwur Rana, a Canadian national of Pakistani origin, has now knocked on the doors of the US Supreme Court against his extradition to India.

India has sought Rana’s extradition for his involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack. Rana had last reached out to the US Court of Appeals for the North Circuit in San Francisco after losing the legal battle in lower courts and several federal courts.

The Adani case just can't be seen in isolation, especially as it comes just after Canada went to the extent of naming Modi in the Nijjar case.

So these US courts / Hindenburg are combating India's political ambitions by targeting Adani right?

Just Adani.

So much sympathy and support for this scumbag? For what?
Why do you hate him?

I support his right to get rich like anyone else in this country

Trump could use it for leverage. But it will seem familiar and he might even be sympathetic to Adani over this witch hunt.

When you mentioned timing, i was thinking waning few months of a democrat administration so better get stuck in. Takes time to build a case.

I wonder who has it in so badly for Adani. He's not stealing any Americans lunch here.

Who benefits from him being taken down a peg or two?
