Adding sub to JBL 104-BT Monitors

I got them as like many others in BBD. I was thinking of adding some bass to these, as their low-end sound is not up to my taste. Upon googling, I came across this thread on hifivision forum.
A few members in the thread suggested some options, but I really didn't get anything, considering I don't know much about sound systems.
Can anyone explain the advice in simpler terms? Or maybe give a better suggestion, thank you.

Above-mentioned thread - Adding Sub to JBL 104-BT

I had a similar setup for a short amount of time. JBL 104BT + Edifier T5 (IIRC). I got the subwoofer for some 8k during Flipkart Sale (2020/2021) so went with it.
I used a 3.5mm 1 input - 2 output thingy (which duplicates the signal - see image below & link). I connected one output to JBL104BT and other to the subwoofer. 3.5mm input was from my PC. It worked well but I didn't like the sound / combination much. Ended up upgrading to 1855DB soon.

This won't work with bluetooth connections to JBL104BT as it doesn't have a sub-out.
For bluetooth to work, you will have to buy a bluetooth receiver (with 3.5mm jack) like this - and put it as source.

I tried 1855DB (has a subout) with T5 but felt the bass was too much. 1855DB alone sounded much better to me, hence finally removed the T5 from setup.

I hope this helps.

I was just reading your old comments on this thread - LINK

Thanks for explaining. I at least now understand what will I require.

Will any sub work? Or, do I need to look for some specific subs?

Dunno why it felt nostalgic while reading my old posts, maybe because I have chagned cities since then and it felt much earlier than 2022 in my mind. Thanks :)

Any ACTIVE subwoofer with analog input (3.5mm, RCA, etc) should work. One thing I remembered after reading the my old post that the subwoofer voulme and 104BT volume had to matched very often, and it was inconvenient to say the least.

Need to find a cheap sub now. Just checked and I have both the 3.5 mm splitter and BT receiver, so I can go either way.
