Firstly, Dreamcast for me due to the game "Rush". Played thousands of hours in gaming cafe's with friends in 4 splitscreens for stunt & battle with cheats enabled.
Secondly, PS2 for Crash Team Racing track & battle modes + Smackdown Here Comes the Pain for the cage & ladder match.

Here comes the pain is forever GOAT of wwe games

It's hard to pick just one... For the sake of the conversation, the Nintendo DS. Great library (such as the Professor Layton series, some of the best Pokemon games (incl. SoulSilver and Explorers of Sky), the Castlevania DS trilogy, the best port of Chrono Trigger and a wealth of other JRPGs, even a true-blue GTA), a novel gimmick that was utilized effectively, backwards compatibility with the timeless GBA (which has its own great library, IMO stronger than the DS), and the Download Play feature that lets you share local multiplayer games with other nearby DSes which don't have the game (such a cool feature to this day), and a battery life that will last you a decade on standby :P I would've picked the 3DS, which has most of these features incl. backwards compatibility, however DS and GBA games look like a blurry mess compared to even a DSi XL. To the extent that I find games of those systems unplayable on a 3DS. An added bonus is that DSes are quite easy to come by these days, and probably the most inexpensive of all retro consoles.

TL;DR Portable, cheap, great library, excellent local multiplayer if you happen to have enough DSes (and more elusively, enough friends :P)

did you try nintendo switch, its a heaven for mario fans
Nintendo Switch is very rich experience.
I dont want to sound promoting Pi**** but anyone who can either afford those games or somehow get to play those games by whatever means . They will just love it.

I cant keep the console down.

even xbox is good with gamepass. What a value it adds

I am mostly talking about latest consoles only.

My fav. will always be PS1. lot of memories with it. Dont have it right now though. Sold it as collector item.

He is right. I have DS also and Two times I tried to sell it and both times I withdraw.

I just could not bring myself to sell it. It has a very unique gameplay experience. In that tiny dual screen with that stylus. I Have enjoyed played Zelda so much that I wish to keep playing after every few months or a year later ...same games.

You cannot replicate those kind of gameplay experience in todays console.
They maybe powerful and good in their own way too but just cannot beat that experience.

I had a retro gaming console bought when I was a kid back in late 2000s. I didn't know what snes, nintendo, wii etc were back then. console I bought came with a keyboard and joystick used to play super Mario,UMK3, Street Fighter etc with the 100 in 1 , 1000 in 1 cassettes. Due to the Adaptor burnt out I stopped playing it decade ago.
Two months back when my dad headed to our village he threw away the console and Burned it as scarp :/ I was hella mad and saddened.

Oye yaar....sad but not your dad fault also. Things something lying around for long time is either best sold off or scrap it or giveaway. It pains more to see it just lying uselessly.

must have been Atari . Even we had Atari.
Contra and all use to so much fun.

Nope must be SNES clone, i had it too. Was quite popular in those days. Costed very cheap. Heard Nintendo tried officially launching SNES in india those days but most indians couldn't spend that high on Nintendo gaming those days ..so they left india and never returned till date

I don’t play on these anymore but it would have to be the NES (desi knockoff) and PS2 for me.

The NES has a lot of fond memories, especially the ones where I played games like Chip n Dale, Snow Bros, Super Tank, Contra and Ice Climbers with my sister until the sun came up. Then there were so many other gems that I played solo as well. There used to be a local shop that sold those X-in-1 cartridges and some single titles as well. Going there with my dad and getting those was so exciting that it’s hard to put into words.

Then there was the PS2. I’m pretty sure my mind was blown by the graphical fidelity back then, and I’m sure I remember those games looking like ray traced current gen ones lol. Games like Time Splitters, NFS Most Wanted, Burnout, Smackdown HCTP + the SvR series, EA Cricket and so much more.

I’m sure that the reason I remember these times so fondly is because of the wonderful games, obviously, but also the fact that I used to have the time of my life playing them with my sister and my uncle, who was also the one who introduced me to the world of gaming. It all probably started with playing games like Hocus Pocus, Dangerous Dave, Prince of Persia and others on DOS. This is definitely my happy place :)
