Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals (that can be availed in India)

I don't recall ever seeing a Black Friday Sale on Amazon India:

Didn't they do that last year too? Or the year before? I'm not sure though. But sure I've seen Indian e commerce mimicking the US sales, in name at least. Otherwise pure comedy in terms of actual sale as usual.

Sharing it again since this is a consolidated thread for BF and CM

Black Friday deal on Affinity 2 suite. Adobe alternative.

Have been using the trial for past 2 months and its absolutely is great to replace Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator. Only thing I miss is generative AI which hopefully will come in next version. Its a perpetual license so no monthly subscription BS.

With this and Blackmagic Davinci resolve studio which came with my BMPCC I almost completely free from Adobe.

For lightroom alternative I got Capture one but havent been fully satisfied with so I am still looking at options. Maybe Luminar Neo which is also on sale for Black Friday

I stated looking for Adobe alternative after they stopped their perpetual license. Bought the first affinity in 2017 and stared with Davinci Resolve in around 2018. It was very painful earlier but once I got used to it's been a great relief without adobe.
As LR alternative I am using Darktable quite a few years now... it took a few months to get used to, but now I don't feel the need to any other RAW editor.
DT is surprisingly powerful. It had parametric masking years before LR and other programs.

Yeah I have tried darktable a few times over past few years but never got the hang of it. Maybe I should revisit it. Although darktable feels like a program made by programmers for programmers.

Like for example this contrast filter. Mode is laplacian filter. Googling that took me to scientific papers about the concept and mathematical equation on how it works. Similar for tone equalizer which describes something called RGB eucleadian norm. I know it is the real scientific/technical term of what is happening but in a UI meant for end users its just too much. What if I describe exporting a picture in jpg as a Joint Photographic Experts Group export using Discrete Cosine Transform with RLE and Huffman encoding.

Will try darktable more but if I am editing/processing say hundreds of pictures of a full shoot then using darktable is a bit daunting.

Agree with your observation about DT.
I am not a programmer, and I also struggled with DT for years... and tried many different paid and free/open source alternatives for LR (some of which you also mentioned) and never got satisfied with the overall experience.

There was a rumor that Affinity would release their own LR alternative... but years went by without it...
Few years back I gave a serious try for few months and used it exclusively... that helped to overcome this hurdle...
Now I think I figured out how the avoid the weird and annoying bits and actually enjoy using it.
