For sale is the Gigabyte Z370M along with i5 8500 for sale, lost the back plate during last shifting. Current its being used for Truenas with the below HBA card. This MB has 2 nvme slots, and 2 full size pcie slots. So, can have one BHA in one slot and a 10gbe card in another slot. Price for the combo: 9500 plus shipping. No warranty.

Avago 8 port SATA HBA in IT mode: comes with 2 cables for connecting upto 8 SATA drives: 5000 plus shipping.

Will try to post the pic of the proc once the buyer is found, cannot remove the running system until its sold.

I had received the products some time back and setup a NAS system using TrueNAS. But I am facing random crashes of the system. I have ruled out pretty much everything, tried multiple OSs, including windows (to rule out driver issues). I have tried two different power supplies, including a brand new one. Have tried two different RAM sticks. The crashes leave no logs, which means they are hardware related.

Messaged the seller last night, but haven't received any response yet (may be he is travelling or busy elsewhere). Have spent nearly a month trying to isolate the issue. The system crashes even with a completely new OS install. The only two things I am now not sure of are the motherboard and CPU. Can anyone here suggest a solution for this? Any way I can check which of the two, motherboard or CPU, is the problem component?
 
@puns what are my options in this case? I had given positive feedback based on the fact that the system worked. I had not tested it by running the PC for some time. Can I change the feedback now to negative based on the fact that the seller may have dumped a defective product? He is completely unresponsive for last two days.
 
Was busy earlier and did not get time to respond. I was using this exact system as my NAS for quiet a long time, probably more than 2 years. The reason was selling was to go for 12th gen for the intel transcoding upgrades. The symptoms that you are explaining could be over tightning of cpu heatsink or ram. Did you try reseating the cpu and the heatsink?

Coming back after more than a month and blaming me saying i've dumped a defective product is uncalled for! The system I upgraded to was doing the same (ASUS Tuf B760M-E D4 with 12500T). Random reboots with truenas and zpool beind degraded until i reseated the cpu and heatsink and ram, you can try and see if that resolves the issue.
 
I have not reseated the CPU, had to change the cooler as I did not like the temps on CPU (80+ just running parity on two 12TB drives). With the cooler temps in TrueNAS dropped to 40.

As for blaming you, I did message you two days back asking for suggestions. There was no blame in that message at all. I even posted a message here hoping to get your attention and suggestions from others on what might be causing this issue. Also, I tried everything possible from my side before raising this issue even with you. During the deal you would respond within a few hours, hence no response for more than two days was a red flag.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. I'll try reseating the CPU and cooler. I just want this system to work without taking any more time.
 
try to see if its something you can fix or get it checked by someone else or a technician.
As for review, it is assumed that upon receipt of product, testing has to be done soon or whatever is agreed to between both parties.

I changed the CPU cooler with another brand new one, this time replacing the cooler master with deepcool Ak400, and tried with different screws tightness levels. But it has made zero difference to the crashes. Its crashing exactly in the same way.
Now I have spent as much on different new parts as I paid for this deal.
@rajch2002 anything else that I can try to stop the crashes?
 
how is it crashing? did you try with having single ram module? are you using ram xmp profiles? if yes run stock. did you try reseting the bios? try with single ram stick in different slots to isolate the issue. what else did you buy other than the ram? try fixing the stock cooler.

It just suddenly switches off, loses power, fans switch off.
Yes, I have tried with single ram in two different slots with two different ram sticks. And I am not using xmp profile. Have actually tried different power and other settings in bios, watched loads of videos on bios settings.

I changed the bios cmos battery as well, so it should have been reset, still will try it right away again.

I even installed windows to run hardware stress tests for about 20 mins without any crashes.

I bought an extra stick of ram to ensure mine wasn't faulty. Ran memtest86 on both, no errors. I bought a new power supply to ensure mine wasn't at fault. I had bought a cooler master cooler to replace the stock one for temps, then bought a deepcool one once you said crashes could be due to cooler being too tight. I tried with the stock cooler as well. But still same issue. Post that I got the deepcool cooler, and have run the system with different screw tightness levels with this one.

Will be taking it to a repair shop today evening. It's a big hassle here since the shop has no parking space, but I'm out of ideas and want to make it work without sinking more time.
