Delhivery Linked to Scam?

I recently bought something off of te and waiting the shipment is supposed to arrive from Delhivery.
My order was delayed, so I called their official customer care number and raised a ticket. Shortly after, I received a call from the number mentioned in ss, asking for my AWB number. The caller verified if the number they reached was the one registered with Delhivery and even confirmed my full name. However, I have never provided my full name to Delhivery, it's hidden on Truecaller, and is only available on official government documents. The caller then claimed I needed to pay ₹10 for processing, which raised my suspicion as my order was prepaid. When I confronted him about the fraud, he sent me an APK file on WhatsApp and abruptly disconnected the call.

Yep, looks like the "official" number you used was not "official" at all. What was it that you used ? I am not even aware that they have any official customer care number. I could raise any tickets via the App only. This needs to go here -

I searched for the keyword digital arrest and am surprised this has not been discussed here before.

Its bewildering that educated people are falling for this time and again despite it being in the news so frequently. Latest being a 59 year old senior IT executive losing over 6 crores over a period of several days.

I suspect the same. I've raised a cyber crime ticket and also sent an email to delhivery.
A lot of people could fall for this scam. The app could potentially upload sensitive information from the victim's phones and even banking details on older androids.

Had exact same experience with Bluedart...i was asked to pay Rs.2/- though as processing charges. probably these courier companies outsource their customer care numbers to some agencies who are full of scamsters.

In my case the customer care representative provided me a shady link which opened a webpage. On the first page i was asked for my upi id and after clicking next i was asked for my upi id password. All this time, the representative was calmly talking on the call. But the moment I caught on to the scam, I channeled every ounce of energy into my tongue and unleashed the greatest verbal smackdown of my life. I’m pretty sure their headset is still recovering.

P.S. My package was not harmed in any way after my call.

Lmao I did the same thing when I realized it was a scam. Except I was in the living room with my whole family there. I casually walked outside, still talking, and hit the guy with such a masterpiece of profanity that he's still probably traumatized by it.
Then a few minutes later I had the audacity to message him casually how he got my full name.

Glad you sensed and went rightly against them. Yes, like you mentioned it looks like shady insider cells or some substandard outsourced agencies who have no values. Airtel at least prompts as Suspected Scam or Promotional Call but that doesn't reduce the volume of calls which happened initially like for a week when it was introduced.

nearly in every organization, you just do a purchase/investments/enquiry, within 24 hrs. start getting call/sms/whatsapp from likeminded other businesses and if you listen them carefully, you will find that they are indirectly talking (know) about your purchase and want you to purchase/invest in their product/service also.

Never received any letter via Delhivery. All the banking related posts were recieved via India Post.
And no I didn't give the seller my full legal name either. I've only used it in Banking and govt docs of course have it.

Here's the weirdest part. There are Russian osint bots where every single leaked info is indexed and I've looked up my number and emails there too and it never showed my legal name. The only place they could find my legal name is if they had aadhar info.
I emailed the Delhivery privacy team, and they responded without even reading my email. They helpfully wrote the IMPORTANT BITS IN ALL CAPS, probably assuming I wouldn't read either. So I did the same, in bold.

All couriers save names and addresses, but we have no idea how long they retain that information. When I first registered on the Delhivery app, I could see a whole bunch of addresses, including multiple cities from which I received packages.
