Same reason why I bought a printer. Should have gone with a laser probably.
But lets look at this mathematically:
- A laser MFD printer will cost around 16K
- An cheap inkjet MFD printer will cost you 3K.
- We are left with 13K to buy ink cartridges
- A black ink cartridge with about 100 prints will cost you 700 rupees.
- You can buy 18 such ink cartridges with the 13K
- If you replace only the black ink cartridge every 3 months, you will be OK for 55 months or 4.5 years.
- So you will break even after 4.5 years. And that is not including the toner replacement cost. Is that OK for you.
Of course if you need many more prints than 30 pages a month then go ahead and adjust the calculations.
BTW 7 rupees per page is insanely expensive but does not beat the convenience of taking a printout at 11PM in the night for next days submission.
