I have laptop i bought in 2021 feb it is an i7 10th gen and rtx 2060 115w. Now I am thinking about upgrading and was thinking where to buy last gen 4070 laptop or invest in a new rtx 5070ti laptop or would it be better to wait a year for prices to drop
 
A lot of this depends on what your eventually goal is. If its gaming then it depends on what kinda games you play generally and if these games would benefit a "lot" between the 4xxx and a 5xxx because you obviously have to shell out more money for something like 5070. Which also means that laptop should have a good display, RAM etc to let you experience it.
Waiting for price drops can be like a rabbit hole, you can never anticipate them. By the time you wait for price drop, you might be interested in the new gen (if any)

Consider your budget and gaming goals. Review any known YT videos to understand the price to performance ratio to make the decision
