Latest AMD Ryzen 2 processors and X470 chipset motherboards have been launched!

The gaming difference is not much higher with Intel. If you do anything cpu intensive apart from gaming, get the 2700x, its simply better VFM platform wise. Note: im biased, i have the 2700x running on an older b350m board.

My thoughts (having been through the same issues in the past) NAS Unit: Pros: Compact, Power Efficient, Easy to Use Cons: Cannot be expanded easily (caveat some synology units provide expandable support, but those units are pricey), Difficult (almost impossible) to rebuild the array if unit...

Storage Solutions SSD and HDD for laptop

^ I also think Vivek's idea would be the best, without buying anything. If you are open to buying some HW, get a Pi2/3 and turn it into a local storage box. Easy, cheap and low powered

My honest opinion here is that you save up some money and move to UnRaid. It best seems to fit your needs (of flexibility of drives and not needing any special HW to run on). Apart from that, you may choose to run RockStor. Note: BTRFS is not stable, and i would be EXTREMELY cautious using it.
