Re: ATi 5770 First don't get nervous, 80c is pretty normal for GPU. Your temps are within the safe temperature threshold. Reseat heatsink, you should clean off the old thermal paste and apply a fresh coat.

Same happened to me, got a new 2TB drive, without even sending the old 1TB. :) Happened twice now actually, few months ago I got a 2TB new drive as replacement for a faulty drive.

How about sticking with your processor/motherboard as long as possible (X2 3600+ is a decent proccy for above mentioned tasks) and upgrading to SSD (60GB Sandforce based) and 4GB RAM ?
