Ananda with a SS felt much more detailed with wider/deeper soundstage , better imaging and much more faster but HD600 with OTL was much more engaging, very intimate vocals and suited my genres very well. An upgrade from HD600/650 retaining its characteristic means going for ZMF Auteur or higher...

That's one way to look at it, but I think more often that not its the curiosity to try out new things which drives these pursuit. Status symbol in audio is much more difficult amongst masses unless you go for the Bose/Sony series which are popular across the households and the brands which most...

Fun sounding headphones and quiet portable. However very bad at blocking sound so the portability helps only in silent environments. I would suggest to invest in a better headphone as I feel the price of about ~4k is a little much IMO, I got mine 10 years back from US and its still going strong...

No doubts , ears are the best judge. What is bright for one is neutral for other , as we have different tolerances & preferences & with age we lose out hearing the higher frequencies. But with lack of oppurtunities to audition/return majority of the audio gears in India user opinions and reviews...

While all the science is great, most of us enjoy gears which don't necessarily measure the best and have some amount of harmonic distortion. Today many amp manufacturers in the quest of SINAD make amps which measure really well, but don't sound even a single bit good musically. While...

Upgrades at price point of A90 means spending almost double. For side-grades with warmer signature you can consider the Gustard amps (H16.H20) which are known to be little on the warmer side and musical in nature, at a much higher price point is the headamp gsx mini mk2 which quiet a few people...

If you are basing of your findings only on the A90 , I would recommend you do try some other amps. The topping D90 and A90 together are known to be a little dry sounding so few gears might not really pair well with th esame. For movies AKG K712 should sound better than your other alternatives...

Yup, aware of the same. A700X are the same drivers with closed cans and accordingly tuned. R70X is going to be a step above both of them. I am sure its not going to be a sidegrade since its being compared to the HD600 and soundstage aside , the HD600 are far ahead than the AD700 in the...

VFM tube amp would be a Feliks Echo , a budget amp would be Anode Acoustic OTL. The Echo was compared to AA amps (both OTL & SET) by a fellow audiophile and he preferred the Echo, but I know many people who love the AA amps too. Feliks Echo will work and drive majority of the dynamic drivers...

From this lot the AT R70X are drawing attention these days as its drive more easily in comparison to the K712 and HD600 , supposed to have similar mids as the HD600 with slightly grainy treble and equally detailed. Also they do not have as much synergy issues as the HD600 (need for very good...

Thats a nice approach to take , wish you all the luck in getting desired gears. Only change I would get based on my personal usage habits is to not keep more than 2 (at most 3 headphones) unless you would like to collect them. Presently I have only the ZMF and HD600 as my main go to pairs, sold...

My reference tracks are mainly a mix of hindi and english numbers I regularly listen to. When i got my stereo gear had used the below to audition to finalize - Raah Piya by Pakshee ( a very long track but quiet diverse) - Keith Dont Go ( Some guitar sequences are really amazing in this number)...

A better DAC would certainly be beneficial over the above ones, what you feed is what you get via the amp. Why not look for a DAC/AMP , the HD 598 SE are not very demanding in nature and will go really well with a Xduoo XD-05 Basic or if budget permits the Xduoo XD-05+ . One of fellow...

If you need a portable dac/amp at a fairly priced module then I believe IFI HIPDAC, Fiio Q5/Q5S (lot of used ones are floating around) , Xduoo XD-05+ are some of the options. The Toppping NX4 was well received , but I dont see anyone purchasing them anymore and I believe HIPDAC is the reason...

Xduoo Products are good VFM, although if you get into tube rolling you will spend more than what a Zen Can would cost in no time. Either ways both should be a good upgrade over Tempotec dongle. Have a look at amplifiers from Vorzamp and Pico , both have ample of power reserve and give near...

I had listened to the U12t for a about 20 odd minutes and Solaris for a good 50 minutes. Totally get where you are coming from, the U12T were nowhere near as exciting as the Solaris , I too could not appreciate its value in that span. I reported the same to the owner and he did not take offense...

The HD600 and 650 ideally need a very good desktop setup and scale tremendously with tube amps as you go higher up the ladder. I had a HD6xx , tried it with my my previous class A SS ( used to retail for 400$,) and sounded as sterile a headphone can get( sounded better of a warm class A portable...
