Konqeror is right touzeen. If he's getting into photography, he better jump in with both feet. A 50mm or 35mm is a must have in any kit. I have a 24-105L lens but I hardly use it. I vote for 60D with a 18-55 kit lens and a 50mm f/1.8 and your set for a year.
