FS: Desktops Threadripper desktop PC (Zen 2 based 32 core 3970X with 128 GB RAM) for sale in Pune!

Yes, I've tried to price it like how you mention, but could you (or anyone else here) point me to any tools/websites etc where I can get actual rupee numbers for individual components? Do note/see the FAQ section about pricing where I mentioned a similar-spec but latest gen (Zen 4 based 7970X...

90K+ Need laptop for random home usage(heavy coding, R&D, multimedia)

I would have recommended a Ryzen-based ThinkPad T14 for it's hassle free linux support (I bought a Gen 4 T14 with Ryzen 7480U a year ago) but now with the latest Intel Lunar Lake 200 series the reviews seem promising so you are spoilt for choice... I would still suggest a proper ThinkPad T or P...

Traveling to USA - Few Questions

I guess it's best to find a definitive answer on the your airline(s) website(s) itself (whichever you booked ticket) they will spell out the current baggage rules - my experience was from many years ago with a couple of airlines - things can change and vary between airlines.

Traveling to USA - Few Questions

Is this check-in or hand bag? Checkin should be fine (weight based) but hand bag they place it in a "cage" like compartment to check it fits inside it so you might face problems.

    Careers and Employment Thread

GCP I'm sure has roles that do not require coding skills... max "Dev Ops" roles and I'm sure her existing role in "cloud solutions" would be relevant? I know it's hard to target these big cloud orgs but worth a shot IMHO unless it's really not her area of interest as you mention.

Aren't you the guy who got into Google some time back? Your friend could try to aim high and prepare for interviewing at Google Cloud division in Pune (not sure where else it may be located) and also other big cloud companies like AWS and Azure divisions. If she can prepare well and you maybe...

FS: Desktops Threadripper desktop PC (Zen 2 based 32 core 3970X with 128 GB RAM) for sale in Pune!

Yeah, I'm looking to upgrade to either a 9950X build or (if available within reasonable timeframe) a potential "9970X" (if they number it that) build, preferably the latter :) I guess it comes down the the cost factor, perf-per-dollar, so to speak, if someone is thinking about buying my...

Linux Endeavour OS: switching from Debian 12 Bookworm

I noticed Debian repo CDN (fastly) is, well, quite aptly, very fast... I get full 1gbit (my internet plan) downloads when updating. For the openSUSE tumbleweed slowness issue, what I did was run a cron rsync script to pre-download everything tumbleweed at regular intervals to my miniPC with a...

Linux Endeavour OS: switching from Debian 12 Bookworm

Have you tried OpenSUSE Tumbleweed? Pretty solid and polished. I like it a lot even though I run ubuntu-lts-based distros as daily drivers. You can download one of the ISOs from https://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/iso/

Monitors How susceptible are monitor power supplies/adapters to voltage fluctuations ?

I have a mains "protector" device (Accurex brand DX 9050) and use power strips , and a whole-home Luminous sine wave inverter in UPS mode, thats all. No stabilisers or individual dedicated UPSes. So technically it supposed to protect for sudden over/under voltage spikes/dips but not from...

    Linux The Linux Mint Thread

KDE is working on HDR (I think some initial stuff is ready) in the latest 6.x releases... I use KDE neon distro instead of Kubuntu, its like stable base (ubuntu 22.04, soon moving to 24.04) with latest "rolling" KDE stable updates. See neon.kde.org to try it Live session or in a VM maybe.

Looking for a free file manager with these features

I think I take back my +1 for KDE Dolphin... There must be a valid reason it is not available in Windows Store, likely not totally safe with your data lol. I'm sure if it's "production ready" it will show up in the Windows App Store like some of the other KDE apps.
