    Windows Laptop attacked by Ransomware

Ransomware reveals itself only after it has encrypted most of your files. From the time of infection till it exhibits the notice, it resides in the memory and transparently decrypts the encrypted files, so there is no way to know that you are infected. One possible way to know that the backed up...

    USB NIC for pfSense

Opnsense is installed in an HP thin client (T620). The only gigabit ethernet is connected to a VLAN aware switch which has multiple VLANs for internet connections and internal networks. The WiFi access point also connects to the same switch

    USB NIC for pfSense

I am using VLANs with Opnsense and it works well. I tried USB ethernet with ASIX chip and Realtek chip with Opnsense and it did not detect properly that time. The Internet bandwidth is less than 100 Mbps so using the single gigabit ethernet works well for me

30-40k Thoughts on buying Pixel 6A from Flipkart

I have been using a Pixel 4a for the past 1 year and I am happy with it. It does have a few issues but I would definitely go for a Pixel again next time

    Extremely pathetic slow internet surfing

As your issue is still open I suggest installing wireshark, take a packet dump and seek help from a local network expert in analysing the same. At this point anything else will be a guess at best

Looking for multi-access point setup with fast roaming and multiple VLANs for home

Have you tried here ? They seem to stock Ubiquiti & Mikrotik products. Any reason for selecting the 4011 ? If your internet bandwidth is less than 500 Mbps, an HAP-AC2 will do quite nicely and it is less than 10K

    PC Peripherals PC Speakers 2.0 / 2.1

I power these using this amplifier which is adequate for my requirements. However during the testing of my TPA3255 amp, I had initially connected these speakers and was blown away by the sound. It is not a laid back speaker, it is very forward sounding and the highs have some sparkle. I think...

Do you have an amplifier to power the speakers ? Does passive speakers qualify for your requirement ? If yes then consider the JBL Control One pro

    Raspberry pi

For me the ES9023 sounded richer by several notches compared Boss2. My pre-amplifier is PeeCeeBee pre-amp and power amplifier is TPA3255EVM. I had a Schitt Modi 2 Uber (with Daphile) a short time and that was definitely smoother and articulate than the Boss2 (with Moode)

    Raspberry pi

The boss2 is very clean sounding but a bit too lean. I am comparing it to the PCM5122 and and ES9023 dacs which were less expensive than the Boss2. After pairing the Boss2 with a DIY pre-amp it seems better than when directly connected to the power amplifier

Isolated Guest router/network setup on existing network

Glad to know that you got it working. If you dont do the first 2 steps, you will have double nat for the 192.168.0.x subnet. Some applications may misbehave with such a setup. If you dont have any issues then leave it as such

Isolated Guest router/network setup on existing network

Please try the following 1. Disable NAT in the third router 2. Add a static route to 192.168.0.x subnet in the main router via the third router's WAN IP address Check if you have internet access in the 192.168.0.x subnet. To configure access control, see this. Instead of website see if you...

Isolated Guest router/network setup on existing network

In that case the main router may be assigning a default gateway to the third router and the mode of the third router is NAT gateway. To solve this you will need to disable NAT and set static IP for the WAN interface of the third router. You will need to add static route on the main router...

    Linux Linux for a noob

Would you be replacing Windows altogether or installing Linux side by side with it ? As you are new to Linux it is better to have both for a while and when you are comfortable with Linux, remove Windows. One important difference in Linux is the way the filesystem works, it doesnt have c: drive...

    Linux Problem updating Pi

To see whether there any big files in sdcard hogging disk space, try the following find / -type d -name mnt -prune -o -size +100M -print The above command will show the files with size of 100 MB or more in your sdcard and will exclude the /mnt directory which has your media files
