Your board is capable upto Gen 3/pcie 3 while the 980 pro is a gen 4/pcie 4 capable, so it will perform upto gen3/ pcie 3 speeds

I switched off my 2.4 to avoid my stronger router pushing it's 2.4 signal to all corners of the house and preventing handover to closer routers I think 5 GHz only with 2.4 turned off works well to get fast speeds all around and minimal overlap between router n nodes(i get my ISP speed everywhere...

So i tried both options to see what provides cooler temps in this vertical case layout Current 5 fan lay out is as attached in image below

personally i prefer running all my components at as cool a temp as possible. Currently running two NVME drives, one with heatsink which came with mobo and one with after market basic heatsink. the primary drive runs a bit hotter due to poor airflow around it but i still get idle temps of 42 odd...

Or a very expensive spare Asus adapter :)
