consider this, keeping the speakers, router on all night, when your rig is on for downloading, doing some reading, offline work (for me it extends quite a lot), why to waste for no reason. Its not being miser or something, just being sensible and smart use of resources.

No, Not all modems, routers and speakers have power on/off switches. Atleast my modem & router dont have. so then i have to manually pull out the plug from the surge protector outlet. not a good or safe way.

Folks, any suggestions for a 4-6 port surge protector which has its own individual switches (on/off buttons)? I need such so that i can keep my speakers, modem & router turned off when i dont need them, thereby saving some power.
