Need help to trace a member's contact details from an HDFC account. EDIT: Got the details TY!

Wow. What the guy did was wrong, but this kind of doxxing response is something which one would expect from 4chan. I don't know where you got his details, but if it came from a closed source(HDFC?), the person who disclosed the information could be in serious trouble for a confidentiality...

    English TV series discussion

The most mind blowing thing for me about OITNB was realizing Red = Captain Janeway (from ST:Voyager) after having watched the entire season.

Car & Bike Sound while pressing the brake pedal...

The noise could be from a variety of reasons. A grain of sand stuck between the disc and calliper could also produce such a sound. What do you mean by a smooth brake pedal?

    The "Everyday" show-off thread !

Yay, my first post to this thread. This isn't the complete setup by any stretch, I'm yet to get stands and a DAC and proper cables. For this month, this has got to do.

Would this idea for a country work?

If you want to answer this question then you simply need to go back and look at why the barter system and later the currency was ever used. After that if you're still able to visualize a utopia, then you've solved life.

Pseudocode to code-suggest the best language to learn

Fortran or Python for fastest ramp up. If you do a lot of scientific computing on HPC clusters Fortran will be quite useful, else Python. Even though Python is largely used for scripting, it's powerful enough to handle these kinds of programs.

    The Startup Thread

3D printers is just a layman term for fast prototyping machines which have been around forever. I don't understand the hype around it. Now it's being made mainstream, but yet the only untapped market are enthusiasts and hobbyists. The main "money making" segment for 3D printing has already been...

Are Computer Games being taken over by women?

The 49 vs 51 % stat must be skewed because of games like Angry Birds, farmville, sudoku and what not. But yes, I do see a lot of female players in Bioware games for some reason and they are indeed on the rise. Tis' good :D

    English TV series discussion

Watched Arrested Development on netflix. Season as a whole was enjoyable but the first 3 seasons were better. Liked it better when everyone was at once place instead of following individual arcs.

C++ platform dependent and Java Platform Independent

Technically, you can compile C++ programs in the same manner as Java. Compilers like LLVM can compile C++ programs to a an intermediate form using their front end (clang) and the IR code can then be compiled on the target platform using a backend compiler(LLC). So the front-end remains target...

Storage Solutions Storing digital pics, what are the reliable options ?

IMO, online is the best option. Offload the headache of maintaining backups and the accompanying clutter and headache to the cloud fairies. If the photos are really important to you and you have a lot of them, it may also turn out cheaper in the long run.

    Electrical Engineering VS Computer Engineering(CSE)

CSE = coding is a misconception. "Coding" is just a tool which even mechanical engineers are expected to know these days. Sure, CS students in general use programming languages more than others, but in the industry the lines are blurred. Pure computer scientists can do their work without any...

measure frequency of AC power supply

What do you mean by "AC or generator backup"? Backup generators also produce AC, so I'm not sure what you're trying to ask. If your fans and lights are working on the backup supply, then you can be sure it's AC.

    PC Peripherals Avoid APC products

The UPS protected your equipment from the surge, but the UPS itself was not protected from surges - so it's not surprising that it went bust. The company might be greedy or whatever, but you can't be blaming the equipment here in this case.
