I'm getting it, it's a fixed SGS, with 2.3. No, RFS, no Samsung's moviNAND, none of Samsung's proprietary crap. Replaced with ext4, and open source software stacks. Did I mention 2.3?

Keyboards are identical, and yes, whole 4GB is inaccessible. Apparently HTC's reserved it for radio and other stuff, maybe caching as well.

Nothing except for radio. Infact both even have the same 4 GB of internal NAND, out of which only 1.5GB is accessible. ROM's are cross compatible, if you go to Cyanogen Mod or MoDaCo ROM's, both say that the same ROM will work for G2 or Desire Z.

No one? It's an awesome phone, with nice mods and ROM's out.. prefer it by a big margin to my Vibrant. If you get the Desire Z, please do yourself a favor and install a tweaked Sense ROM or a stock ROM.. I don't use Sense at all.. tried a Sense ROM but it has so much bloat..

Highest end customs are pretty close to highest end headphones actually. Just a different way of listening to sound. Universal's don't come close at all to any of the two.
