I can confirm now that HWMonitor truly sux. :P
Following are the max. temps recorded for Orthos -15 minutes blend test
CPU (Asus PC Probe) - 55C
Core#0 (RealTemp) - 50C
Core#1 (RealTemp) - 50C
oh and btw, Crysis sux as well...case closed!
Thanx everyone. :D
seems like it...HWMonitor sux. :P
will it do things any differently? is it better than prime?
if yes, gimme the link plz. :)
haha...ur right :hap2:
why crysis behaved like that is still a mystery.
hmm..one point worth mentioning here...when I ran that Everest CPU stress test for 7 minutes...there's a bar which shows CPU throttling...it was always at 0%. If the tcase sensor is broken, how come its reporting correct temps (or so I'd assume) now and in BIOS? :S
Okay...so the story begins...
I was playing Crysis yesterday evening. After say, 30 minutes or so, I noticed the game started to crawl...I realized something is not right. So, I closed the game and noticed the temps. if everything is alright. I was shocked to see that HWMonitor was reporting...

Get Back to Work as Usual from Tomorrow Onwards, Busy Admin! :bleh:
Hmm...won't removing the stock cooler and applying MX-2 void the warranty? Besides, I don't think it will help much...may drop temps by 2C-3C but I don't think its worth all the trouble. :P
Well, I can do that but I'm thinking of getting a new HDD soon. What happens then?
Yup, those are the...
Any more ideas on how to reduce the temps?? Its touching 90C-95C on full load. :S After applying the fanfix, the fan speed will always remain on 50% no matter what. It won't even try and increase the speeds even on full load. IMO, the fanfix is a good solution for keeping the idle temps down but...
Thanx Sidhu...I've already added two ~70CFM fans (one as front intake and another as exhaust at the back). I've also added the low CFM (the one that came with the case) to the side GPU vent as intake.
If I add another of those 120mm fans to the 5.25" bay like yours, where will I place the 2nd...
Yes, applied the fanfix...b4 that idle temps were arnd 75-80C :O
at 50% fan speed the gpu idles at 55C.
I've the CM Elite 332 cabby and added a front intake fan as well but it doesn't seem to be helping the HDD temps...probably coz the gpu is very close to the hdd?? :S
Also, check this pic -...
thanx...got it. now both realtemp and coretemp reporting the same.
here's a screenshot frm HWMonitor...looks like the temps are bit on the higher side.
gpu temps after half an hour of nfs pro street.
k..now the current temps @ idle -
cpu(@pc probe) - 38C
mobo(@pc probe)- 41C
gpu(@gpu-z) - 55C (50% fan speed)
core1(@realtemp) - 31C
core2(@realtemp) - 32C
core1(@coretemp) - 41C
core2(@coretemp) - 42C
are these temps okay? also tell me one software to monitor all temps (cpu, gpu, hdd etc.)
Tried both and still the problem exists. :(
I see but the funny thing is that both Intel and ASUS recommend you to install your CPU/HSF once the mobo is fitted inside the cabinet.
I think shipping to and from Mumbai will take another two weeks atleast. If Rashi is indeed providing 1-1 SWAP for the P5Q mobos, I may as well take it to the nearest Rashi service center. Which according to you is the better idea of the two? I'm confused. :(
Done. Power button defects ruled out.
Done. Used a new power cord and reset the CMOS as well.
Cower Cord & CMOS problems ruled out.
Done. RAM problems ruled out.
Done. HDD, OD and GPU problems ruled out.
I've tested the same PSU on another PC and its working fine.
So, PSU problem ruled...
