if you are more inclined towards bass effect then CX is good but i found it low on max volume...EP has both but it lacks the bass depth....its ur personal taste.....i have JBL Reference 220 in-ears , came with a cute case with all the add ons, sound clarity is awesome as compared to both...

is this issue on Vista or XP .... because on Vista there are 3 unwanted services associated with Windows Media Player [wmp network sharing journal, etc.]....are you talking about Windows Media Center [XPMCE] or Windows Media player?
