My initial budget was 70K…but, being greedy and wanting too much, my wishlist has jumped to 90+K… :no_entry: :no_entry: :no_entry:
My usage is, of course gaming, 24x7 downloading and other regular stuff.

My questions are…

  1. Please shed ur ideas about each of the product, if u hav used it…

  2. Better components for the same price…

  3. Im planning to buy them from Ritchie street in 3-4 weeks time…Is it the correct time or shud I wait for some things like… product launch etc.,…?

  4. Where will I get gud VFM for each component… viz… techshop, from Amarbir, from KMD, from Ritchie street…

  5. Is there any compatability issue between each of the components Ive selected?

  6. And, any other ideas and alternatives are welcome…

Thanks in Advance…
(I dont know whether this is the correct place to start this thread…If Im mistaken, plz bear with me)…

Instead of 4870 512 mb , either get 4870 1gb or gtx 260 from kmd . 512mb wont be enough for new games ..

the velociraptor is not worthy . instead of that invest the money in processor and get a quad core , Q6600 / Q9400 .

if u get card from kmd u can get better rams for the price u getting XMS2 , get 4GB Gskill pi black , or 4GBPQ 1000mhz . the XMS2 are not that good overclockers .

you have choosen nice config but it can be made even more nice

here are some modifications from my side…hope you like it

For motherboard it is nice…but you can go for MSI Zilent or Asus p5q-e or p5q deluxe

From me antec 900 cabinet is big no no…why ?..coz it is cramped believe me when you install hardware in this cabinet you will really left with very little space for cable management and other stuff…instead you can go for CM 690 or Antec 1200 or Thermalrite cabinets

For RAM xms2 are nice RAM…but i would suggest going PI black from newegg via KMD  these are very nice and also CL4 comapred to CL4 of xms2

Lastly about HDD velociraptor do you really feel need of it, if yes then go for it.IF in dilemma then i suggest invest that money in another 640 x 2 or 1TB hdd

Thats it…from my side

Lets see what gurus feel

Msi P45 PLATINUM Motherboard… —>> GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P (KMD)

Antec Nine Hundred cabinet… —>> Antec 300/CM 690

Razer Lycosa Gaming Keyboard… —>> Logitech G15

AOC 619FH 26’’ LCD Monitor… —>> HP/LG 24" S-IPS Panel

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400… —>> Intel Q6600/Q9400

Corsair XMS2 2 x 2GB DDR2 800MHz 6400C5… —>> G.Skill PI Black 2x2GB (KMD)

Palit HD 4870 Sonic 512MB DDR5 graphics card… —>> GTX 260 896MB (KMD)

WD SATA 750GB 7200RPM HDD… -->>> Seagate 750GB 7200.11

Tagan BZ700 700 Watt SMPS… -->>> Corsair HX 620W

Samsung SH-223 SATA 22x… → LG 22x GH22NS30 SATA

I’m a very strong adviser for buying Graphic Card from local market. KMD will certainly help you with RMA procedure, however, same will cost you around 1 k ( correct me if I’m wrong people) + time taken will be anything from 2 weeks - 4 weeks… can you live without graphic card without that much time and believe it or not, these new generation graphic card do get bad after 1 year or so ( some people are lucky though)

Graphic Card : MSI 4870, 1GB for 16.8 - 17 K

Apart from that, I suggest you to take ASUS P5Q - Pro or P5Q-E ( really good boards)…can do 500 mhz fsb easily

Ram: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 ( gives you good o/c opportunity). Also can run at lower clocks i.e 800 mhz at less voltage. Check this link

Power Supply : COOLER MASTER Real Power Pro RS-750. > 85 % efficiency ( me using same and can vouch for it) . Check review here and here

Cabinet : HAF-932 for 9 k or CM690 for 3.7 K…think no other

Mouse: This is subjective, however, I like my Razor Krait very much. Can be obtained for Rs 1600

Processor: E 8400 is good enough processor IMO. Quad core processor doesn’t give very much definitive advantage when running games. Infact you can O/C this proccy to 4Ghz just by adjusting few parameters on mobo ( good cooler required though. I’d suggest Sunbeamtech CCF)

Hard disk : 2 x 500 GB Seagate, 32 mb cache for Rs 2800 X 2

DVD-Writer: This is again very subjective. Some people like old good Ben-q, some like Pioneer, some Samsung and some LG. I’d rather pick up any of later 2 :face_with_tongue:

sorry for OT ; but the monitor that Sidhu Punjab suggested…LG 246WP..where can i buy that in India:) any sources please

might help a lot..

Asus P5Q PRO / DELUXE

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550

Sunbeamtech Core-Contact Freezer

G.Skill 2x2GB PI Black

Sapphire HD 4870 1GB

HDD 500 X 2 WD

Corsair 650W Power Supply(CMPSU650TX)

BenQ E2200HD

optical drive, mouse, keyboard, speakers, cabby etc. all your choice..

EDIT: Speakers Altec Lansing or Harmon Kardon..

very true

Tagan - not sure of its availability @ Ritche

Corsair TX650 / TX750 would be a good choice

MSI and Razer r avbl @ Mahavir

Antec 900 - check with ItDepot only if they have a good pricing for it

I have also seen Thermaltake cabinets with Tirupati outlet @ Ritche

Hmm I just got a second hand Antec 900 cabinet, my views:

  1. The air circulation design is fantastic

  2. It will take a considerable amount of time, installing the components inside, especially hdd’s if you want a fan cooling it

  3. Even after the hard work, if you have one of those PSU’s with long cables, it will be a mess, trust me you have to be one of those guys with a knack of good cable management skills to pull off in this cabinet.

  4. At that price, I dont think its worth it

hey…
thanks all for the prompt replies…!
Ive Changed my likings towards these…

Asus P5Q E motherboard

Cooler master Real power pro 750 watt PSU

Cooler master HAF 932 cabby

OCZ Reaper 22GB 1066 MHz DDR2 RAM ( Delta at Ritchie street, chennai, quotes it for 4800 bucks…i is worth it or should I go for GSkill PI Black 22GB 800 MHz RAM…?

And, still confused about Video card… If I get palit HD4870 1GB for 16 to 17 K at ritchie street… is it okay, or should I go for GTX260 1GB from KMD?

And know what, my budget has gone up…up..up…:frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

^^ gtx260 + Pi Black.

Chuck the RP750 get a Corsair.. better warranty

Get the velociraptor if you can afford it. Makes quite a difference.

guys…
heard that NVIDIA is gonna release GTX295 in some days. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
should I wait for the 4870s and GTX 260s prices to drop or is not worth a wait?

anyways, my purchase, as per my plan is 3 weeks from now.
Do I have to wait a little bit more or go ahead?

I know I can wait and wait and wait for products’ pricing to drop, but, I dont wanna be in a situation wherein people who bought 9800 GTXs at premium prices looked like jack-a** when NVIDIA dropped prices within 2 months of its release ( correct me if Im wrong).

Well when you spending so much then i would really suggest you to get a Quad atleast a Q6600,Q9400 etc would be better.
