Yes. My TV remote is in some random drawer right now. I am exclusively using Firestick 4k remote for the on / off feature.
But be aware that, my firestick is old so I am unsure if 5 years back they had the remote with power button or not. The remote I use currently is an aftermarket remote I got for Rs. 250 from nearby electronics shop. It works well and does the on / off well. Did not need to make the remote “learn” using old remote and yes volume up/down too works.

No! No! No! Don’t buy the MAX. The newer fire stick is much better. I linked it above. It is 3999 with a 500 coupon.
umm…all reviews suggestsed that max is faster and I cant make sense of the version and release dates from listings really. from the same series, max would be better…right?

As mentioned earlier, the one available in India is the older Max version. Better to get 4K.

sorry, not trying to be an idiot but I didnt see any difference in specs. this is what claude says about older 4k max and newer 4k device. is this not correct?

While I do trust real people more than Claude, hard to ignore facts over opinions (amazon has not made it easy to validate facts in their listings though). Anysway, thanks for your time in responding to my queries so far.
You are comparing 4K Max (Gen 2) (2023 release) and 4K (Gen 2) (2023 release). However, the one available in Amazon India is 4K Max (Gen 1) released in 2021.
4K Max (Gen 2) if available is a good buy, but it is not available.

Max has different versions , check which version you are getting and the exact hardware it has. As called out above.

How do you know what Claude is saying is a fact? Everything about AI is an opinion and a lot of times, it is “confidently incorrect”. There is no fact or fiction for AI. That is the way models are built. It is only an opinion.
sorry man, you are helping me and I dont really want to sound like an unappreciative asshole but just trying to clarifying what I was saying. 
I was saying Claude is giving me stuff which it claims to be facts and I need to validate them which amazon is making hard to do. What you were giving me was pure opnion which I respect but would have preferred to know basis behind those. I appreciate your opnion though and I understand that you are not obliged to be give be the basis for those onions. I have decided to go for non max version now based on the information you and couple of other members have provided here. so thanks.
No. What Claude was doing was giving pure opinion. I told you the reason in my post above (quoted below).
I didn’t realize that people trust these AI systems so much that if it claims to be a fact, you would believe it. Even when I do google search, I always go to the source to see if it is legit. I don’t know how people can believe whatever the AI spits out.
