I bought a case from Computech, cash on delivery is stated as an option on their about me but isn’t available. Had to pay using UPI and they made me insert the transaction code manually which was annoying but my order got accepted and I got a tracking number for delivery.
computech forces you to enter transaction code manually because they don’t wanna bear 2% transaction fees to use payment gateways like razorpay, payu, cashfree etc
Funny that after reading your message I tried to log on primeabgb to see if they offer CoD since I’ve purchased from them before.
They deleted my account wtf.
Yes, everytime you do a UPI transaction, a transaction ID is generated. They ask you to type it in manually after you place an order to verify your payment.
The issue with COD is the extremely high rejection rates.
While your order may be genuine, there is an alarmingly large % of people who will place an order just for kicks and gladly refuse delivery when it reaches them..
In such cases, the seller loses the effort on processing and the cost of shipping + return shipping ..
Startups with funding or very large entities like amazon can cover this but traditional businesses cannot..
COD is a India specific method that was needed pre UPI when not everyone had the mechanism to pay online. It is usually not available anywhere globally but carries on for legacy reasons here
No vendor of similar scale bears those charges, they just charge the customers that extra 2%. One of the reason why a lot of stuff is slightly cheaper on computech than other places.
They did have a payment gateway option too last time I bought, you’d just have to pay the charges.
