There is this thing.

Foot pedal, behaves like a dimmer, but with variable speed. The more you push, higher the speed, foot off == machine off. On the machine itself you would put it into max speed, so this thing can work correctly. The machine speed knob will act as max speed limit knob, when used with this pedal.

It is very popular, people use it with dremel. I want to use it with my desi dremel == Ingco mini grinder.

In the west it is easily available for 110v, we need the 230v version for our 230v machines, hard to find here for the right price.

Here the momentary version of this sells, which is basically a simple ON/OFF control through the foot, no variable speed.

Labour/mistri/contractors are an entitled class here. It’s easier to do miniscule stuff myself.

And, that rust removal is just a random example. I already have a variable speed machine that can take care of it.

I have never seen anyone using that guard ever. People lives are cheap here.

Yeah. I know this very well. They are allergic to water.

That’s good to know.

I have a portable dimmer too but never used it with a power tool as it’s limited to 500w.

Where did you get a high watt one?

Just a regular SCR dimmer rated for 2000w from amazon and I put that in a diy extension box with 2 socket and 2 switch, one socket with dimmer output

Got myself a dewalt DW802. It’s a 850w model.

I chose this model over the others because it features a slide switch and is from a reputable brand. That’s it.

The Bosch X-Lock feature looked appealing, but it doesn’t work with the regular grinding wheels we have available here.
