Is the Nintendo Switch 2 a good buy for us Indians?

Nintendo games are actual gaming if you ask me.

Too realistic graphics does not cut it out anymore.
There was a time when we use to go wow when realistic characters and world details.

But ab nahi hota …woh feeling.

Dil wants to go back to being childish in our world where you are expected to mature much earlier than ever.

Video games for many is an escape from real life.

I am not saying the others are not good But each to his own.

yeah i only meant that for me. Lots of people will differ, so many of these sold so there is clearly a large market for this stuff.

Maybe its because I don’t have nostalgia for mario or donkey kong and similar even though they were one of the first games i played ( along with Dangerous Dave ! ). But then i moved on to better games fatal fury / street fighter etc. Aladdin was pretty good. Then pc games happened, wolf 3d/Duken nukem/thief/HL/Jedi knight etc etc and i never looked back.

I just dont like Nintendo art style at all. Not all games have to be hyper realistic.

Anyway, Aladdin was pretty great. As group of kids playing on console alternately, i remember one session we went quite a bit far. Very tough game. For others, this might be mario and the likes i guess.

Nintendo actually has a lot of great platformers in every generation, and the cuteness also draws the children and women demographic to gaming. Their approach is more mass market, due to which they have a wider audience, at least when they can get the games through the door.

All other platforms are mostly competing with each other for the same type of titles, which is basically why we now have Xbox going away as a pure console.

The downside is that this has made PC gaming expensive as well now. Game developers usually used to charge premium on consoles while not expecting a lot of PC sales but the general movement of titles across platforms has made them charge more for PC games as well.

yeah + Indian regional pricing for many many games has become bad (but atleast there is some discount there on steam). Gamepass is ok.

Still, game prices fall quite a bit if you don’t have to play that absolute latest games.
There is a huge number of games, its oversupply, so its a buyers market - opposite of gpu cards these days. Plus tons of free games from epic and more via prime. There are basically too many games.

So if one is not the type that needs to play the latest games or a specific game, game prices are usually fine on pc. Game pass is there for now ( i dont use it) for some latest games too.

Anyway, i use pc only. Cant move away from mouse and keyboard.

I haven’t ever spent a 4-digit figure on a game and never will. With this PC backlog, I also will probably not be purchasing games anyway.

However, I did get a Wii U last year and modded it. The main appeal of that is motion gaming and in general, it works great as a multiplayer party machine.

I feel Nintendo games are the same kind of slop (lemme explain) as most standard AAA games. By slop I don’t mean bad, I mean entertainment for the sake of consumption rather than making a statement. Insomniac’s Spider-man games are slop, Yakuza games are now mostly slop, Forza games are slop, the new Nightreign game is the best slop for me this year - all games I love. Some slop is better made than other slop (Horizon games vs Assassin’s Creed games) but they’re both made to be sold as a toy. Nintendo games are usually very well made but I don’t think they do enough for me to differentiate between them and other AAA releases. I don’t get why some people put them on a pedestal.

Max i have spent so far is Cyberpunk ~2k and RDR2 ~1k, otherwise usually i don’t bother for same reason.

Huge number of games that i haven’t played and want to. Many i bought earlier but haven’t played still. On top of that free games from epic/prime/gog etc many of which i do want to play. And generally bad prices for new games. 70$ Doom dark ages, selling for 6k in India. Basically pushing people towards gamepass.

And older games will give me high refresh rate on 4k screen while latest ones will struggle to run at 60 which is too slow for me now for fast games.

How did you get completion status numbers ?

Manually marked the games already completed in the past. Not one to go back to an old title in general after completion, unless a new mod tempts me to. I still got GTA V, SC Chaos Theory and Prey on my list for this year, but considering it takes me months to complete each one of them now, not sure when my completion percentage will reach double digits, considering the free Epic games and occasional cheap Steam purchase.

I don’t bother with it too much. Just consider it as a library else we have too many games to play if we try to plat it all. I wont play all of them. So i just just pick up what i feel like and also try to mix it up a bit - game type / speed / age etc
