Been thinking of buying a switch 2 if it launches in india after a few months (imported ones will cost wayy too much at launch) but I’m unsure if there’s a way to buy games for slightly cheaper or not, The exclusives seem pretty fun alongside backwards compatibility to switch 2, but i’m still not too sure.
Honestly, sounds like a tough sell. The original switch never officially launched in India, games are expensive and looks like this one would be even less moddable.
ah, that’s fair. The launch retail price is currently 55k for the console and 60k for the bundle, absolutely not worth it. It costs 54k for the mario kart bundle with a case and screen protector in UAE
it costs as much as a PS5 plus u cant PS5 cheaper with offers right now. So PS5 is way better option you can get used game easily and library of games is way more compared to nintenods or u want portability then again rog ally or steam deck are way better options unless u are die hard Nintendo fan its hard to justify the price.
wait for few more first party games to arrive… wait for another 6-8 months and then pick it up..
Switch 2 price in USA is around 38,000.
I have seen many reseller in WhatsApp group in India for around 55,0000.
Also do keep in mind switch /Nintendo never lower price that much compared to all other consoles makers
No console is worth it at launch. May be Xbox 360, PS3, Wii were, but nothing after that. I would wait for 2-3 years before considering it. Upgrade of previous generations are almost never worth it. They never wow you like you hope they would. Moreover, Nintendo has priced their console ridiculously. So, I wouldn’t consider it. They were selling the previous console for $250. Now they have launched it for $550 for almost the same thing.

No official launch = Not worth it
Not worth it right now due to high import pricing and less games.
If you really want to experience switch and Nintendo’s ecosystem , go for switch oled or normal ones right now , they are prices somewhat alright with tons of games at disposal. There are some sellers who sell modded ones too if you like to customize your experience , overclock it , stream it and dump your own games and run them digitally.
I would rather buy a handheld pc like ally
Switch and the game prices are absolutely not worth here right now
it is not even available to buy . I was just checking in USA .
It really depends on how much you personally value Nintendo first party titles. If you really like them so much that it justifies the price then it would probably be alright… but from a purely rational point of view I don’t think you should (or anybody else in India). Although Nintendo games are truly one of a kind, their hardware is really not reliable as far as history has show me. The most infamous example being joycon drifting and I also remember their consoles having problems for which they needed to be sent for repair directly to nintendo. Not having official support in India means if anything happens to the hardware, even if the damage in covered within warranty, it won’t get covered by that and possibly ruin your expensive investment.
My advice if you still want it, wait for the price to drop (which it probably won’t anytime soon) or try to get second hand when possibly the OLED version launches as many will sell their old version for it (you will possibly have get it from some international second hand marketplace though)
For me Nintendo console is most reliable of all 3. even some decade old consoles work still fine. I agree though that joystick drifting is true as many have reported it…but that even ps5 and xbox series controllers have been having issues. I think they purposely make it little poor for the joysticks so that after year or 2 people go and buy a new controller and give them some more money.
agree.
Switch 2 toh sochna bhi nahi chahiya unless you are related to Adani/Ambani ( or some politician)…jokes aside… and even rationally like you said koi matlab nahi for now.
Just buy switch 1 for now modded wala and enjoy and when Switch 2 gets modded or cheaper and then enjoy more.
It probably doesn’t make sense to get a Switch 1. For example, you can pick up a Poco F7 with a telescopic controller and play the games at a much higher resolution and frame rate on a larger OLED screen with better battery life, besides using it for regular stuff. Emulators are back in development, so compatibility and performance will keep improving.
Just consider any nintendo product as a luxury entertainment item, even above a playstation 5 considering it’s lack of official support for India.
Nintendo comes to one point - if you can afford it, definitely go for it. It is worth the experience.
If you cannot but still want Nintendo , wait for Jailbreak?
If you still want gaming and cannot wait go for ps4/PS5 or xbox or even a decent pc.
Somehow i just never like Nintendo at all. Games, esp graphics, look so childish, have 0 interest in donkey kong or mario. Hardware is overpriced and primitive for the money, games are overpriced.
Not for me. Switch 2 display seems to be pretty bad too. If i needed a portable gaming machine, steam deck oled looks much much better. But they also dont support in India.
Nintendo targets casual crowd i think, perhaps since wii. Maybe good for children.
For the Price nintendo is selling at absolutely not not atleast a jailbreak is found.
Wait for the official Nintendo Piracy Device 2 OLED from Valve.
Buying a nintendo for gaming is similar to buying a new iphone. Games/apps are expensive and the ecosystem demands a certain cost input to enjoy it to the max. Their hardware though is pretty good. I bought the original switch about a month after it came out and that was my first foray into things like Zelda and Pokemon. It’s fun, if you like their games. It’s still kicking around but its battery has seen better days and 2 years ago the joyscons started drifting, which I got around by buying third party joycons.
I wouldn’t buy Cyberpunk for it, I have my PC to play that on but Mario Kart World is lots of fun. And there’s a ton of other games that become immensely fun when playing with non-gaming friends on a TV because the entry barrier is quite low. Then there’s stuff like Towerfall which I’d play with friends in a cafe and we’d all have a blast.
There are definitely pros and cons; if the games work for you, go for it. If not, there’s a ton of options these days in handheld gaming and choice is always good for gamers overall.
