I’m getting the JioHome 599+ postpaid plan which has 30mbps speeds, 50 days free trial, 800 digital channels in form of jio tv+ accessed via the stb box.
Installation is free, stb box provided free. No security charges.
Is it a good deal?
How is the uptime? Are there connectivity issues?
I was generally very happy with Airtel? It had good speeds ( 40mbps).
But, I got frustrated with no iptv in my area from Airtel while jio was offering it.
Anyone who is using jiohome 599 postpaid plan, care to comment?
Both Jio & airtel are pretty similar when it comes to overall internet service but Jio has more restrictions on their side like more strict traffic analysis, more blocking of websites etc as per online comments but for a typical user who mainly browse typical websites & doesn’t care about what tech is used by ISP for network traffic analysis, there is no difference between them.
In my Area GTPL is best with Reliability+Price Combo. Used it for 3 years with super satisfaction. Had to shift to Jio a month back due to relocation. It’s also working fine. Same plan 599+.
The main issue with non-major/tier-2/tier-3 ISPs is that you never know if you will get full connection speeds all the time while downloading from servers located abroad. For example, I used a local ISP in the past which gave full 200mbps speeds on any CDN server or Indian server but on foreign servers its speed used to vary from 20mbps to 200mbps depending on the time of the day.
i have used both airtel and jio fiber ,i had issues with jio router being slow i mean after restart it takes lot of time and not only that i had some other minor issue i dont remember exactly what it is ,currently shifted to tier 3 town i have only airtel in my area its good and never faced any issues
Commercial usage policy applicable for all unlimited Fiber plans. High speed data upto 1000 GB available with AirFiber and thereafter unlimited data at 64 Kbps.
From my understanding, above means this plan is only available via Airfiber which has its own separate FUP not the 3.3TB standard fup on fiber line plans.
If you can get Jio Fibre to your home and need IPTV, then you can go with Jio, considering the service is good in your area. However for me, I haven’t had any cable cut issues in the past 2 years with Jio Fibre.
I used Airtel Xstream a few years ago for 12 months. I was on the 100 mbps plan but consistently got around 120 mbps for both up/down. The best part was that the fiber connection was only down 2–3 times during that entire period, with a total downtime of around 6 hours.
@LordSyphr so, should I cancel the connection and stick to Airtel?
1 TB won’t cut it with my p2p usage.
Also, hearing people’s gripes about ads in channels startup and substandard router provided by jio, I have realised I may have made a bad decision by committing ₹1111 for a pipe dream of 800 digital channels.
Didn’t realise these channels came filled with ads and FUP of 1 TB instead of 3.3TB.
I have until Monday morning to cancel Jio and stay with Airtel if jio is this awful with ads and this restrictive FUP policy
I recommend sticking to Airtel if you have good service in your locality (No frequent disconnections, downtimes etc.).
I switched from JioFiber to Airtel not long ago for better latency. JioFiber was reliable for me. It never went down and I got the advertised speeds but latency was all over the place. My internet experience is much snappier with Airtel.
I have used Hathway in Mumbai for half a decade now and for some reason they are extremely professional. It disconnects only a couple of times a year at most and the connection is always restored within 10-20 minutes with a callback.
It was a 120 Mbps plan with FUP for around 800/month 5 years ago, but they removed the FUP 2 years later and the speed now is 450 Mbps.
I had tried JioFiber with its trial offer and it was plain horrible in terms of speed for the cost as well as reliability, not to say the injection I had detected.
One of the few cases where I haven’t had to think about a change.
Yes, same recharge for the past 5 years. Of course sometimes the cost is lower when discounts are provided on the platform, or otherwise the 5% SBi cashback trick still works.
