Looking for Inverter UPS for custom(diy) lifepo4 pack

Yeah, I bought 120x 32700 from myinnovation last year during their diwali sale, I got a good price back then. It’s for a 72v 24s5p battery pack that I’ll make after this prismatic pack.

It’s about half the capacity of the prismatic pack but one third of the price. I love how the prices keep falling.

70k two years ago for 5kWh, 22k last year for 2.3kWh and now 1.9kWh for 11k.

People predict that in five years the shipping cost will be more than the actual cells.

Yeah, LFP is a pretty mature technology that you don’t lose much with cylindrical cells even though they have lower cycle life. The majority (if not all) of Ecoflow products use cylindrical cells.

Prismatic makes more sense for extended/continuous/daily use. Even then it’s over spec’ed, the cells will degrade due to calendar aging before reaching cycle count limits.

Both, I think it’s because of the design (using the same transformer for charger and inverter) that when there’s a power cut and it quickly switches, there’s some energy flux thing in the transformer that the BMS detects as a short circuit. It doesn’t happen if I turn on the inverter after power is cut.

How much was your 3kVA Ashapower inverter?

I would love an Ashapower inverter but their pricing is way out of reach. For the price of their 5.2kVA 48V inverter, I can buy 4 (!) older luminous 3.5kVA 48V inverters in the local market (45k vs 11.5k each). There are huge differences, the luminous has an aluminium transformer and the design is from 2012 while the Ashapower is state-of-the-art with a copper transformer, but the price difference is still very wide.

Ola recently announced an absolute unit of 6kW inverter with a 9kWh battery for 160k. If I wasn’t drowning in emi’s, I’d have pre-booked two of them and live out the rest of my days in peace.
