My APC 1100VA UPS went kaput. Can I get it repaired?

Hello all,

My APC 1100VA UPS went kaput. Can I get it repaired? Its not turning on. What could be the problem? Its showing charging only indicator but not turning on. Its bought on Sep, 30th, 2019 so I think it has done its duty right? Should I order a new same UPS or another brand one? Please suggest? Thanks.
My config is in my signature.

Has the battery ever been changed? If not, maybe time to get it replaced

Yeah, take it to nearby battery shop and they can test it with a new battery.

Try taking it to a reputable battery shop.
They will likely diagnosis it and you won’t have to pay the full amount for the ups.

However if it’s too much of a hassle to you, you can just order a new one.
With a new one you can even look for an upgrade, like higher capacity or more stable ones.

Kind of offtopic but this seems to be relevant thread,

My 3 year old APC Back-UPS Pro BR1000G-IN , is not working too. The display shows battery is dead. Looks like the battery costs 6k. I was thinking why not buy a HOME UPS instead of spending more money on this. Any opinions ?

APC original battery?

Not yet changed at all.
In an older thread here in TE battery is said to cost 1100. OP ordered 2 batteries from APC. Should I get it replaced? Then?

@@bssunilreddy Not turning on with or without load ?

  • If it turns on **without any load **then your batteries need replacement. 1100va takes 2x 12v 7.2ah batteries. You can give them back the old ones. They can fetch you anything 100-200 per battery . YMMV

  • If it does not turn on **without any load **, then issue is with PCB. You can get is replaced by APC or buy a new unit. ( PS - 1100va has a new model now )

It isn’t even turning on. So I should order a new one then right?
As the nearest APC service centre is 48kms away and I am in rural TN. So which UPS brand should I go with?
APC 1100VA UPS or Artis or CyberPower ?
I need at least 400watts load bearing UPS on my 750watts SMPS. Please suggest. Thanks.

I would say, pick the one that had good a.s.s. in your area.

Also, since you are going to get a new one, consider future expansions and get the load coverage accordingly. For example, below is estimated backup with respect to load for **APC 1500va/865W back ups pro. **

200W = 30 min.
300W = 18 min.
400W = 12 min.
500W = 9 min.

Yes , Their website says 6k+installation charges.

Precisely what I’ve done using an old Inverter

I will suggest checking for cheaper aftermarket options since at that price range you may get a new UPS. Also their customer service is pathetic.

My 1100VA ups consists of these 2 batteries. Normally in 600VA ups only one such battery will be there.

I saw in vlebazaar it’s priced at 1.7k where as in Google search it’s showing as 1.1k. I mean each battery cost.

But local kalpakkam guy who repairs computers is saying that ups battery each costs around .95k which is too low and isn’t saying which brand he is selling or offering to me.

Should I buy from vlebazaar or get an aftermarket battery from this local guy.

Vlebazaar is a scam

From this store

Are the above batteries same size as they both have same wattage?
Please somebody confirm. Thanks.

Same capacity, Yes.

Check capacitors yourself, anything bulging, replace it

I replaced my APC 1100VA UPS with Zebronics batteries and they gave 1 year warranty only.

From next time I will buy Amaron or Exide batteries.

Looks like my BX1100 needs battery replacement

My question is can I get 2 x 14 ah battery will it still charge and give backup

These are the ones that I have in mind

I don’t mind keeping the batteries out of enclosure if size is the problem
