Health and life insurance has been made GST free
A nice Diwali gift upcoming
It should not have attracted gst in the first place!
There is already a debate if this will actually help policyholders. https://www.financialexpress.com/money/gst-council-meet-gst-exemption-on-life-and-health-insurance-likely-but-will-it-really-benefit-policyholders-3965098/
correct.. For eg - Its like first they increased the price for the LPG cylinders by lets say 30 and than decrease it by 5 after very long years and saying see we did such a good work
Anyways..after so much mess they created, finally some little relief for us as citizens but lets c what will happen in reality when it is applied officially.
We will have wait and see, How much of it is actually passed on to the public or the corp greed will take over and increase the pre tax sale price thus keeping the net price close to same with lower tax especially for the high ticket items.

“All cars larger than 1,200 cc for petrol and 1,500 cc for diesel will be charged at 40 pc, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said.”
Was it 28% before?
I could understand this move if they made hatchbacks cheaper but this just makes cars more expensive overall and could end up hurting automobile manufacturing.
we need more AI! make gpus gst exempt!!! /s
Implement kabse hoga? Diwali pe? If so, sale me phone lu ki diwali wait karu, kya karuu??
Shat the bed on vehicles, as predicted.
It was 28%+17-20% cess, so approx 45-48%, if it is 40% gst now, I think there must be some change to cess as well, otherwise this will cause huge backlash.. India is a growing market for c-suvs, 1200cc is not a big enough engine..

You have to look specifically for increases.. The highlights only mention reductions
Yes, it was 28% before, now 40%. Same case with motorcycles >350cc (40%)
iirc, it was 28%+22% and Cess of either 2% or 4% on SUV’s.
Now its a flat 40% with no Cess.
This govt is hell bent on killing motoring culture in India.
And as i predicted all pc components still in 18% slab.
However monitor of sizes above 32 inch now attract 18% instead of earlier 28%
from 22nd Sept
For tech enthusiasts, it’s nothing apart from TV and AC. 18% is huge for a country like India. I believe India could have benefited more by having a flat 10% for everything and 40% for some sinful products.
All monitors are 18% now, it’s the tv sizes above 32 that are also getting reduced to 18.
Both of the items in looking to buy this Diwali.. mini led tv or monitor.
This just reminded me that the taxes were really high to begin with
1.2L is big enough IMO in India. Our roads are crowded. I want a 1.2L 4-cylinder turbo, but we will likely be stuck with a 1L or 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo.
I test drove Venue with 1.2L NA engine, I prefer it for city driving over the 1L turbo. Past 50kmph, yes, the lack of power was evident to me. My uncle has the 1L turbo Venue, so I had a decent idea about it, both were MT. On the other hand, a friend has a 3XO with 1.2L turbo (130hp) with TC, maybe it was because of the tuning of the TC but it felt much better to drive than Venue turbo.
My biggest issue with most vehicles these days is the sunroof. Counterproductive stuff that will increase maintenance cost in long run.
I am seeing a lot of reductions (that shouldn’t be needed in first place). Bit terrified to think where they are gonna make up for shortfall.
